How different is Coaching From football analysis ?

We all know Afshin Ghotbi's Rise..from a semi-football analyst to a fool head coaching job.....
but, what other charactoristics coaches should have ? other than being abvle to analyse Football games ?
We,noticed, our fellow PFDC member " Human "...the analysit and assistant to Branko and Ali Daei ....but we also noticed, he never was able to become a head coach...currantly keep changing teams on the secound devision of Iranian football leagues......we also see, some coahces who have managerial skills...that may help them far more than Football knowledge, particularly in IRAN.....
like wsie..we have so many of our fellow membershere with good to great ability to disect games, and analyse xs and Os...and formations.....but,does that mean they can coach also ?

Very, and I'm not going into details here. Any "idiot" or savant can analyze a football game. Coaching is more about, well coaching (people management) and not so much about analyzing.

It wouldn't hurt a coach to be able to analyze a game (as stated earlier, everybody can analyze a game to some extend), but it would definitely not be a problem for a coach to not be a top notch analyst. That's why all/most coaches have an analyst or two in their technical team/staff.

So....is it better to call a head football coach " a manager " ?...as they are called in England....??...
and if that is the case....does it mean ,countries such as IRAN should look for a different charactoristics in a coach ?..
or, should assistant coaches be paid more attention to ?

In a normal world it's better for a team to have a manger coach (like Man U) and various assistant coaches for different positions and activities (fitness, technics, tactical, etc.). Even in Holland some people/groups call for this approach as there are many good coaches but few mangers here.

In case of Iran it's a totally different matter as it's all party bazi and backdoor politics. So the purpose of a manager becomes moot. Furthermore, even in case of TM, Iranian players don't have the basic football knowledge and skill (passing, pressuring, holding position, vision, shooting, making yourself available, widening the field, creating spaces for others, etc etc).

So what Iranian players need are basics of football. With other words: many assistant coaches that teaches them the various aspects. Not an analyzer who becomes achar faranse without any experience.

Now Qhotbi FanBoys will point out his time as being assistent coach of S. Korea. To that I say: I've seen many brain surgeries on TV and I know girl who's an assistant brain surgeon, handing the surgeon the tools he needs during operations. Now will you let us do a heart surgery on you?

          3- A teacher of skills
          4- A psycologist
          5- Dealer and a weeler
          6-Top connections with the system
          7- A Popet
          8- problem solver
          9-Poletician
          10- Media specialist

Well we do as we have shown time and again, in any field, on any level, inside and outside of Iran, that we're not good working in a team.

By "There's no I in team" they meant to say that there's no Iranian in a team.

So yes we need a coach who can do it all on his own. And even that wouldn't work, as in the end he'll get a list of players he has to field.

not a superman. there are plenty of people who can manage the above 5 requisites.
depends on that individual's proficiency in each or all these 5 factors

It is important to note he was not just any ordinary analyst, he was Guus Hiddink's analyst and their team made it to the LAST FOUR of the World Cup. He also was analyst for the USA national soccer team in 1998. Besides these Ghotbi led Persepolis to an IPL championship (not easy) which was his first head-coaching job.

                  it is quite different.
That's why not all educated and intelligent people can be teachers, as conveying the information and lessons to another individual is a totally separate set of skills that come with specific training.
You may know all about a subject matter and understand it fully. But to pass it on to another person takes different capabilities that include psychology, human interaction, ... etc.

edit: oh. old thread, brought up!
