This also means Iranian clubs will be eager to spend even more on domestic players than before, because relatively to the foreigners it will still be cheaper.

Therefore transfers to Europe are getting even more unlikely, although I wonder why the players are not tempted to earn hard dollars and euros in Europe instead.

Same with transfer fees. Clubs could become very rich in Rials when selling players to Europe, even relatively cheap.

I think this is extremely unfair. Yes, perhaps Nekounam could have stayed in Europe for another season or two but the man gave it his all in the six seasons he was there. He came back from a long-term injury, was consistently one of Osasuna's best players, and even made it on the list of La Liga's 'midfielders of the season' a couple of year ago. In his last season, he even captained Osasuna on several occasions (including a game or two against Barcelona).

Along with Hashemian and Mahdavikia, Nekounam is one of the few players that played and worked to his potential.
