    Ramadan and World Cup

    I just noticed Ramadan will start on June 28 next year. That is exacltly the same date as the first matches of World Cup's round of 16 are played.

    This means should we advance from group stage, Ramadan would co-incide with our World Cup campaign, which certainly would diminish our chances I believe.

    Thought? Do you think there is any chance for the players to delay Ramadan in that case?

    ^^first of all, we have to see even if we qualify for 2nd round!!

    second of all, according to islam if you are traveling you can escape fasting BUT you need to substitute those days on a later time!!

    so it should not effect them at all
    IRI = FAILED

      IF (and that's a big IF) we make it to the next round I'm sure they'll find some cleric who will allow them to make up their fasts at a later time, because as we know our players are very focused on fasting

        Assuming we do make it the 2nd round, who in god's name is going to enforce Ramadan on our players in Brazil? Will there be anyone travelling with the team who's got that power?
        We thank and support Mr.Kamran Delan for many years of dedication and service to Iranian Football Community.

            According to Shia Islam, since they are travelling and won't stay in one city more than a few days only, they are exempt from fasting but have to catch those days up later when they return. So it will not affect them during Ramdhan.

            Unless they decide to move and become citizens of Brazil and stay in their new hometown more than the exemption days.... which is not gonna be the case...

              Ok, so as expected theoretically they can postpone it, however, often people exempted from fasting still feel obliged to follow it. Are you sure our players will really not fast?
