    Iran - Angola (Friendly) - May 30th

    FIRST HALFSECOND HALF

Two notes. Our B team should hace won that one. Too bad Gucci didn't hit the ball well enough.

And sorry, blaming Davari for that goal is nothing I can agree with. That was a ball for the defenders not the goalie. Yeah, the best in the world might have picked it down, but we all know he isn't one of them and neither are Ahmadi or Haghighi.

^ yes, the defenders also bear the blame.
But the keeper has a lot to answer for.
if he had at least moved to touch or parry it, I would have said at least he tried. But he stood rooted on the line on an IN-SWINGER (not an out-swinger) that landed INSIDE HIS 6 YARD BOX.

These balls are all keepers' balls. They either collect or deflect or punch them. almost all the keepers in the world are INSTRUCTED to go for these inswingers ending in their 6 yard box.

had it been an outswinger, or if its flight would have ended outside his 6 yard box, I'd have accepted him staying his ground. but not this one.

      *************

Note on Reza Haghighi. the lad has all the right stuff. a fighter, aggressive, tall & physical, good heading and shooting and passing. But he needs to calm down and temper his game. if he manages to control his tackles and nerves better he'd be a fantastic DM for us.

anyway, judging from the amount of time and how the players were used in these three test games I am almost sure about 3-4 of them who'll get dropped ... knowing CQ's tendency and behavior of the past 3 years:

Sharifi, Makani got very little time. I really doubt they'd stay. Nothing against them as both are great players and in fact I'd still pick Makani over Haghighi who has never impressed me.

Khanzadeh compared to all the other CDs was the least impressive, especially today. I still think if CQ has to choose between him and Alenemeh, he's pick the latter.

Mahini's good performance today threw a spanner in CQ's list. But if CQ keeps Beikzadeh in the list, and given his positive impression of Pouladi, He'll have to make some hard decisions.

Rahmani did quite well today and maybe made dropping him very difficult for CQ
However, hadadifar is still not showing his true potency and abilities. He's been performing at 60-65% of his true capability. which is fine and I, personally would pick him over shojaei. But we know CQ's view on "playing in or outside iran"!

No, keepers must never "try". There is one golden rule: if you come out you gotta get the ball. Otherwise you expose the goal completely. If you're unsure, be conservative.

And yes, Davari is very conservative, a bit too conservative if you ask me.

dont keep calling this team our B team.

the diff between our A and B teams are negligible.

and pls get rid of Davari and Beitashoor

i fully disagree...a keeper who doesnt come out to collect such balls is either:

            -low on confidence
            -doesnt know how to keep

a goalkeeper making a mess of collecting/punching that cross is BETTER Than a keeper who doesnt come out at all

Only real first team players starting were Nekounam and Dejagah, maybe Davari. And the difference between the real starters and the rest is huge.

Some players were even third or fourth choice.

Is there anything that makes Hadadifar an asset for TM? He is not a distinguished player even in Iran.

But what do we expect from a utility player played at DM?
Score goals? High flying bicycle kicks?

Granted, he can certainly be better than this and has shown it before. But our expectations also need to match the post and duties asked.

Besides if we run up a list of his performance stats (+ and - ) he'd still trump shojaei, who's had just too many negatives.

This is Bosnia-Ivory Coast highlights from yesterday... Both teams have good center forwards.

Bosnia likes to play long balls from middle of the field. They certainly know how to get a result.

Well, we can't learn much from the Bosnians first goal as this was a silly mistake of the defender. But their second goal is cause for concern and shd tell us how comfortable dzeko is with the ball and even volleys.

The scenario also may not be valid for our case. Ivory Coast played a very open game. That allowed a lot of holes for the blue team to exploit. I seriously doubt CQ will try such an open tactic.
..... unless we actually stand a chance to advance and would need the three points of the game.
Logic says any coach shd go for it. But then again, I wouldn't be too sure how CQ would react.

The other cause for concern is their keeper seems to be a top notch stopper.
Given our expected low number of opportunities we'd get in front of their goal, I hope we have players who'd convert those few chances and don't need a bundle of tries to score a goal. RGN is that kind of poacher. Others? I'm not sure at all.

                          4-4-1-1

                          Ahmadi

                          Beitashur
                          Hosseini
                          Sadeghi
                          Beikzadeh

                          Nekounam
                          Ando
                          Dejagah
Rahmani or Khalatbari or Hajsafi (*)

                          JB
                          RGN

                          * - depending on what we'd like to achieve.
From playmaking and a solid, yet systematical approach - Rahmani,
to a more attacking and adventurous approach - Khalatbari,
To a more solid, compact and slightly conservative approach - Hajsafi

Subs depend on how the match goes and what we need to do with regards to the game as well as the overall points needed.
It could range from totally defensive subs to totally offensive ones and a whole lot of different scenarios in between these two extremes.

^ Too bad CQ dropped Khalatbari... he was the most technical player in the squad, would have been useful for creativity in attack.

Yes. And there goes that extra bit of adventure we were expecting from our offense that would have been the difference between the three approaches I was talking about.

Coz I seriously doubt other players on that side could provide the trickery he would have provided. Not hajsafi nor JB or even shoji (that is if he manages to keep the ball long enough and not turn it over to the opponents)
