I dont think GN is the problem.
The problem with us is we are way too much "BAAZI KON SALAR" and always defend the players no matter what and question the coaches, no matter who is the coach.
I realy admired when Firouz Karimi kicked some a$$es last season and let the players "who did not play well, to run around the field before going to the lockers".!
kheylee bazi konamoon loss kardim, They gotta Run and Fight 90 mins in the game. Same goes for PP players.
yes, we need an A$$-kicker and have to stop this baazi kon salari.

true Amoo sibil jan but that should be done the right manner....running the players around the field or blaming a single player for the team's loss after the game (like what parvin did with madanchi a few years back) are not how these kicking ass matters should be done...besides, in a game like today, I think GN did make mistakes and he should answer for them...the player are a little above their heads, but a good coach gets them down to earth professionally and gets the best out of them on the field, Gn has faild to do both, same with F karimi.

Well said. Unfortunately, this is a major problem in our football in general.

I dare to say that one on one , Esteghlal has the best squad in Iran even better than Perspolis. And trust me , Ghalnoei is like an army general when it comes to discipline. I don't think there is a major disciplinary problem with SS , Hell , Ghotbi faced a much greater problem in Perspolis and yet managed to win the championship last season, why wouldn't GN do that ?....... Again , I doubt it is a discipline with the players (not that it is totally discounted however)

The problem in my opinion , is the way the team plays. Lots of pace but not much tactic. They could not penetrate the Mes defense and when they did , Rahmati was there like a hawk.

I am inclined to agree with you , Armin Jan , but the minute they bring in a foreign coach , the mafia will gang up against him and make his life miserable.

These two team SS and PP don't much like the outsiders.

red flags for SS now. Lack of a goal scorer in the SS forward line is so obvious, none of the Akbarpoor, Majidi, Borhani, Alizadeh (this guy isn't even an average soccer player, besides his throw ins). An Akbarpoor next to a goal getter like Enayati was very good, but as we saw today, two goals could have been scored and he missed, same with Majidi.

SS forward line still hasn't scored a single goal yet.

Add to this the an out of form Jabbari and Kazemi (that for some reason still starts and play full 90 minutes) and the disaster for SS is fully completed.

For whatever reason, Baykzadeh didnt' play a minute until today and when he came in, SS's left wing came to life.

I still think GN should be given time. I liked his subs today. Pulling Tagipoor out and bringing Baykzadeh and Abbasfard and Borhani in. The only thing I really hate about GN's decisions is playing Alizadeh. I wish, this guy never suits up for SS.

On a unrelated issue to SS I would like to talk about Khosro Haydari from SS and Masoud Zareyi from PP.

I should say, I am so amazed with Khorso Haydai. Look my early posts, when no one was saying a word about Gholamreza Rezai, I said this guy is great in TM. Now it is Khosro Haydari. This guy is in better form that Kia in his hay days (fitness and technique wise both).

Another great addition to the TM will be Masoud Zareye from PP. Much better than both current Kaabi and Gholamnezhad.

khosro heydari is beginning to fit in the team really well.
first two games, he was poor but he has stepped up his game. real proud of him

beygzadeh was also good today i think. he has come back from an injury but i think he did well.

i think kazemi also did well today in both his defensive and attackign duties. ofcourse, he was faulty on the goal we conceded.

ghorbani and montazeri were good too.

jabbari was poor, so was akbarpour.
majidi ran a lot but no use.
alizadeh as usual, nothing to offer but throw ins. abbasfard is even worse!
                he doesnt even run!

and our whole team played so wide apart, so confused and so clueless its really sad and pathetic.... its been 4 weeks now and i personally havent seen any improvement in esteghlal performance as a team....i seriously hope this isnt the best ghalenoi can offer in terms of tactics..

Abbasfard is a target player for his aerial abilities, so running isnt' his acuman or strength for that matter. He was challenging every ball in the 18 yards. Rahmati had a great day in the air (which is good to see for an Iranian goalie who are very weak in coming out of the goal for the TM sake at least).

Another reason for lack of succes for Abasfard was the fact that Mes was defending in a very compact way. SS somewhat tried to counter with posting Borhani wide out and try spread Mes's defense across, with no luck. Quality of crosses except from Baykzadeh aren't good. That is one area Khosro Haydari needs to improve and it is the quality of his crosses.

I really wanna know what goes inside of Gn's head that he's starting Alizadeh in every match...it's just too obvious that he isn't producing anything at all!

I think with Beyghzadeh having come back from an injury, and with Khosro Heydari starting to fit in more and more, we have 2 great players on the sides.

I say either play Majidi and Akbarpour in front, and start with Akbari next or just a little behind Jabbari. Majidi in midfield doesn't work! Even though he runs a lot, he takes out the speed of the game with his constant dribbling.

We need a man in midfield who plays one touch football, with a good overview and distrubution skills (normally tht's Jabbari, but he seems to be totally out of form), and I believe that man can be Akbari (or even Juanvario). I really hope he gets more playing time.

Or if Qn insists on playing with a target striker, then take out Majidi, play Abbasfard, but whatever you do, take that Alizadeh out of the starting line up!!!!

enayati was also a target striker and so is khalili. compare how much they run to how much abbasfard ran and they are both older than abbasfard.
even our own alizadeh, how much he runs and how much abbasfard ran!

abbasfard, just like alizadeh is slow with poor ball control and passing and shooting ability
he can only jump and challenge aerial balls which isnt much use considering our poor crosses and abbasfard being outnumbered by a atleast 2 big mes defenders and their GK.
im seriously beginning to prefer alizadeh over abbasfard, although i really think both are crap players who are probably azadegan division players!

abbasfard has always been at best an average forward and he hasnt had much success with any team. he played in saba battery for the past 2 years and scored just 5 times, averaging 2.5 goals per season in the team that finished 3rd in the league!
before that, he played in bargh shiraz for 3 years and scored 13 goals in total, average of 4 goals per season!
then he moved to saipa. played for 2 seasons and scored 10 goals, averaging 5 goals per season!
                      all this according to wikipedia.

really poor stats for a target striker who has played in some of irans top teams like saipa and saba battery.

he reminds me of ali daei during the branko days, but atleast daei knew how to pass, had a football brain, had immense experience of the highest level and stopped running at the age of 33-34...

I watched him in Turkey and when he was in Bargh and Saba Battery (althought he didn't get much playing time there), his dead body has better ball handling from Alizadeh. You will see.

Running for a target forward all over the field isn't the right thing. It isnt' just pure amount of running. As a matter of fact, if the target forward pulls back too much, he allows opponenets defense shorten the length of the field and easily join the attack.

To be honest as much as I know and while not a specialist, I did a presentation on target forward for my coaching license, certain runs to depth of the opponents defense and not coming back too much is the right thing for the forward target. That was one of the worst thing, Daie toward the end of his carrier doing coming back so much (Hashemian did the same in Portugal game granted that was pure pressure of Portugeese and our player running so slow as if they had shit their pants by mere seeing themselves in the same field with Portugeese). Daie by running backward (same with Enayati in the AFC) with not a very targeted running, weren't as fast on the runs that, they needed to be 100%. Remember goal Enayati missed against Mexico (Friendly in Mexico)?

Guess we have different opinions about this, but do a search on the net on soccer tactics books about target forward and you will see for yourslef.
Again, I am not saying a target forward shouldn't run and make space and create confusions, but ideally I want to see lateral runs or runs into the space in the depth of opponents defense (which in this case wasn't possible, since Mes was defending with 11 players in areas (8,12,10,9).

hopefully SS can get out of 'telesm' and start winning games. it's hard to see how a team with so many superstars in their team and GN (a respectable coach) cannot produce a decent performance and gain points.

GN is the headcoach and knows more and experienced and all, but I wish, he stopped making so many changes to the starting 11 (specially defense), bench Alizadeh forever, dont' start Jabbari and Kazemi for two games and play Baykzadeh from the start. You will see, what a force SS can be.
