26 through 47 Play home and away elimination round..
11 will advance and join the 25 teams which had byes

Total of 36 teams enter 2nd round.

TOP 2 QUALIFY TO THE 3RD ROUND.

3RD ROUND. TOTAL OF 18 TEAMS
3 GROUPS of 6 teams each group
TOP 2 GO TO 2026 WC.

3RD AND 4TH PLACE TEAMS from third round..
total of 6 teams will be placed in 2 groups
WITH GROUP WINNER GO TO 2026 WC.
the 2 second place teams play in Asia playoff
Winner will go play intercontinental playoff.

This means that Oman, China, UAE, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon are all possible to miss out. Those teams are all capable of drawing or even upsetting Iran or Korea on a good day. With the addition of having to play in front of fans now (no more mickey mouse COVID 0 spectators), stronger teams will have more work to do during away matches.
