Oh my god this shit again! please keep the politics, labelling, shaming to the many other threads we have running for that.
We are going to WC in 10 days, if you are not interested in the team, don't watch and certainly don't waste your time talking about them. Many other people are boycotting the WC for various reasons and one of the main principles of that is not continuing to discuss the WC, the teams involved, every waking hour.
There is a very real possibility amiri and torabi feature for notable amounts of minutes, and regardless of what we think of their political stances, they actually from a technical perspective warrant such involvement. So just prepare yourselves mentally for that fact. I know, it may be painful for you, but this is the truth.
So far the only entity in Iran that has actually been run based on technical merit in recent decades has been CQs TM. I trust his judgement to select the players who are fit to wear the shirt based on their technical abilities and ability to gel with the group. He is not assessing other things. If we wanted to speak about just education level Vahid Amiri (after growing up in poor village of just 300 ppl) is head and shoulders above the rest of this team, most of whom failed to even graduate high school, but again, this is not relevant in world of SPORT.
We will see shortly if these 26 players, 2 (This means under 8%!!!!!) of which you guys seem more obsessed about over than any other member of TM/staff/federation/etc , are involved in making sporting and national history. There is a decent chance they are.
And btw if 2 players are pro regime out of 26, that is actually fairly reasonable breakdown. TM is a representation of iran, and unfortunately its not a stretch to say that somewhere around 8-10% of 80+ million people are (mainly passively) supporters of the government. Even in new Iran, we cannot publicly hang all of these people if they have committed no crime except having beliefs different from the majority. In that case we would be doing nothing different than what a bunch of animals did in aftermath of 79, and I think we are supposed to be fighting for something better than that. We will not convince them to change their beliefs with such a backward approach either.Comment

I get that the issue with Amiri for some is more the statement he made on instagram, but many athletes in Iran either have a basij card, or an IRGC card, depending on what team they played for when they were conscripted. It's not a 100% indicator of an athlete being pro-IR.
