    AK deserves his call up.
It is not we have Ando, Nekou, etc around.
He is not fast but so is Saeed, he has better vesion than Saeed, and slightly better speed.

What happens as far as a revolution in Iran doesn't affect him - although it will cause he can help Iran. But he's just thinking of short-term. He's a foreigner, let's not be hard on him.
I understand what you're saying, and I am not hard on CQ, appreciating what he has done for us in the past. But as we're witnessing, nothing in this life stays the same, and at times the the tried and true formulas of the past don't give answers in the present. Even our beloved TM has their banners burned, not in Seoul but in Tehran! So even someone who is not of this country but who represents a part of the establishment gets drawn in whether they were planning for it or not.

Im surprised to see AK getting hate. Definitely deserves to be there. Coach at Kayseri, one of the best performing teams in Turkey thus far really rates him, trusted him with good amount of mins despite him being injured for a year.

Ofc, he has mobility issues like most our cms, but unlike most, he is very calm under pressure, can actually recieve the ball cleanly, turn, and advance the play with smart forward passes. He is also quite physically imposing. CQ was a big fan of his in previous cycle, but injury prevented him from going to 2018 WC.

I remember 1 friendly vs montenegro that we won, and sardar scored a couple nice goals, Karimi played from min 40 onwards next to Saeid and looked very good.

I am fairly sure he will have a solid role to play over the course of the 3 matches.

Carlos asked tough questions but it's expected. He did fairly well to keep the focus on football and dodge that last question which was dangerous.

Ali Karimi will have to be explosive in all his movements and I hope he does not become a liability.

At least we have 5 subs this time around.

i can't tell if the storm of negativity and bullshit around the team will fortify the team and bring them together, or just lead us to disunity and disaster. i hope it's the former.

I love CQ but WTF was that "amatuer" answer?? That was some "Skocic" level answer right there.

CQ: Pay me to answer it!

CQ you're there to answer questions or pass on them. Please please don't ruin your reputation for me .

That sounds like an answer IR says, in that it leaves out the fact of the penalties imposed if they do (financial, including ironically FIFA bonuses, legal, and physical). It sounds as genuine as Zarif saying, "Of course there is Free Speech in Iran!" I don't know the details but I have heard CQ was involved with Sardar taking his Mahsa story down early on.
To be honest, I do not think it is a legit question at all. Consider England - they have a King and a monarchy - an institution which was involved in slavery and colonisation, thus affecting to the oppression of millions if not billions of people in the world. Even the national anthem that the English players will sing is 'God save The King'. Is it fair to then ask Gareth Southgate if he is comfortable representing the King and an institution that been responsible for global oppression throughout history? I don't think so, and rightly so. This is not a valid question in principle - the English team represents the people of England, not the king (and also not their cruel conservative government). Likewise team-e melli represents Iranians everywhere - those in Iran and those outside of Iran. Team-e melli does not represent the leaders or the government, just as the English team does not represent their king or their government.

Therefore, the framing of the question is totally unjust. I am not arguing that the issues in Iran should be ignored - on the contrary, the issues in Iran are of huge significance, but this sort of reporting and questioning is unfair to CQ if you ask me.

agreed, I understand he is in a tough spot with these questions but he could have even answered with something high level like “I’m proud to represent the Iranian people” or something like that.

                                1) The whataboutism isn't accurate: We are not talking about historical wrongs about an empire that is long past its glory, but blood that is flowing on the streets as I type this, so yes it is legitimate. If UK was still still colonizing India, as an example, then yes, it would be a legit question of Southgate as well.
                                2) TM, while representing the people, also does represent the government: hence, the national anthem, the flag, the pressure on the team from the government, etc.
