To be clear , im not saying dont post politic stuff, its ok, just do it in correct threadz plz. For those confused about why people are upset at the national team it's very simple. We all know the definition of Team Melli (I hope), so with the vast majority of people in Iran grieving if the players do not show solidarity and share in this grief then they are no Team Melli. So when a few of the players bow down to Raisi (please read about his direct involvement in the mass executions of innocent Iranians in 1988) and post pics of themselves giggling it's bound to piss off the majority of Iranians.

The teammelli bashing could all stop in a split second however if the players protest the regime at the World Cup in some significant way. People in Iran are risking their lives daily right now for a free Iran the least the players can do is risk getting kicked off the team. But if they all protest together then the government can't do anything, and if they try to then it will only help the revolutionary movement by further shining a negative spotlight on them

Our Players have a choice to support the revolution or not
Those who do find themselves in the hearts and minds of the people
those who don't risk being hated and rejected by the people.
I think we should just let the players decide how much they can afford
to show solidarity. We mustn't expect much from those
who play inside the country as they are likely to be
reprimanded when they return. So let's just leave them to
concentrate on the games of history and get respectable
results as they will be recorded in the history without the circumstances
being mentioned as it never is. So let's leave it at that.

How the hell can people compare these two scenarios. It’s not as black and white as people make it.

one player has the freedom to express himself without him and his family being in danger or any repercussions whilst the others are under constant surveillance and their families live in Iran.

I obviously wanted the players to be more vocal and I’m disappointed in some but this is much more nuanced as people make it. Plus we still haven’t played a single game to see if the players have anything planned in terms or solidarity.

Over the past month, all your posts are POLITICAL, I understand, but especially when our players are coming out one way or another against this regime what else do you expect from them> To set themselves on fire live on TV? Who the hell are we to tell them what to do? Our female athletes are taking off their scarves, our former soccer stars are coming out, the parents of our CURRENT PLAYERS put out statements, our own players like Azmoun keep supporting the movement. The way I see it they are doing more than you and I...The difference between Ukrainian and Iranian athletes is that the Ukrainians can go back home and won't get tortured or forced to bs confession and have their families held as hostages, so it is illogical and immoral to put them in the same picture and demand precisely the same statement, everyone cannot be a Hosein Ronaghi. He is one in thousands if not millions. Are you a Hossein Ronaghi? Have you done anything outside of chatrooms and posting online?

Which players are you most looking forward to playing against, and why?


For me, this isn’t important. The most important thing is that we do something memorable in this tournament. There are lots of great players in our group, but it doesn’t change anything for me. I’m not saying that I don’t have respect for these teams, it is in fact a great honour to play against such quality, but the success of the national team is my number one priority. If we want to progress, it doesn’t matter who we’re up against.
