Young iranians, no hijab, watching the match in a cafe in tehran. Yeah these people are deeply against their national team Or sorry, big time basijis...Just because a group of unfortunately very naive, traumatized people bought into a narrative concocted by a combination of IR themselves and iran international (for different reasons), does not mean they reflect 80 million+ people, even if they suddenly decide to act like gestapo/ ershad e interneti online.
We have gained respect of our opponents.
we have gained respect of the world and our boys did indeed do their part in amplifying the voice of iranians fighting for freedom.

However I have a feeling of we make it to the next round, the streets will be flooded... Now if any of those celebrations turn into protests, who knows.

All of them said although most people still watched the match, and are happy that Iran won, it's not the same vibe as previous world cup. Definitely not a lot of "organic" street celebrations like previous world cup wins.

I was immediately bombarded with congrats from relatives all over Iran, not just tehran.
I just meant this to say the idea nobody gives as shit about this team bc of an online troll army, that has managed to co-opt a decent # of bystanders, is not true
