For all the worship that happens on this board in favor of Western European football and footballing culture, its significant that the countries in the Americas (along with Japan) are the ones actually being open-minded about Iranian football.

This fits the pattern we saw from reporters -- British reporters hounding CQ and TM players to answer sensitive political questions, while American reporters instead spoke to their audience about the political pressure TM was under and focused their questioning on football rather than politics.

Do you think that it is by accident that 6 of the last 8 teams in the world cup, this one and going all the way back for many years, if not every WC, are European?

How does a country of 4million people, like Croatia, goes toe to toe with football crazy Brazil (215 million) and beat them?

Western European football and footballing culture is far more advanced than elsewhere.

Why do Korea and Japan hire Western European coaches?

We are nowhere near the top twenty and have never been either. Majority of the top twenty teams are Western European. Now maybe other countries are more impressed with our football...fine. But when we consistently not top 4 in Asian confed cup, then really who cares about false positive impressions of others.

Forget who the coach of the Team Melli just forget that

If we just had a proper league , which could at least train the players to be at a certain standard psychically, forget about the coaching or tactics, just have these players bodies ready and in shape at least , I would say just like what the MLS does then , I would say 80% of the problems we face in football would be gone ..

the whole issue at hand that we have all these years is we don’t have players that are even close to be ready psychical to compete at high level , without them going into a long camp

The club teams in Iran have wayyyy more talent at their hands then any team in Croatia does even more than dynamo Zagreb , but they just don’t care , about development at all

we are to dam corrupt when it comes to being honest with developing players and caring about the national team

case in point : no matter what we say , they the Iranian players at the moment ( mostly their mindset) are fucken lazy , they are like Arabs ,too dam lazy ,,, every single players that we had that was at a very top level , 9 times out of 10 the past 10 years has chosen the easy route go the UAE or Qatar ,,, going to UAE/Qatar in your prime is basically you are ruining your career
        case in point ghadei…

Taremi spent 2 years in Qatar … you could say 2 years wasted ..

They just care about money Iranian players don’t care about glory or country or legacy or becoming a champion or development

The football culture in Iranian is tarnished

They just care about money …

On the coaching side of things , whoever the coach is they have to be not scared and start to gamble on the side of youth

If we lose and not qualify but gambled on youth and that in the future leads to these players going to Europe becoming better that is a win win

that super renaissance in football that we have been waiting for will never happen if the coach doesn’t take major risks , yes gambling on youth might mean we lose games , even concede goals , but we have to become brave ,

Hoping something from our league is a lost cause. We should aim to do all to send our players in Europe and punish those who don't

This is selective rationale. You can do the same with Central and South America. How do you explain Costa Rica and Uruguay, with populations of 5M and 3.5M, respectively, having so much success against the World Cup and against larger European countries? How do you explain Argentina, at their 2nd final in the last 3 World Cups, with only a population of 47M, going toe to toe with "football mad" Germany and France (80M and 70M)?

My friend, you're falling into Western European bias.

No you can't do the same thing with North America, central America and the Caribbean. Only two teams from this entire region have reached the quarterfinals, and only once each (mexico and Costa Rica). You cannot compare Costa Rica or Mexico to Belgium or Portugal or The Netherlands.

Regarding South America, 3 teams have won the World Cup but only two of them over the past 50 years. Now notice that two of these three teams also have the largest proportions of European ancestry/culture in South America.

Notice I am not saying that it is a Racial thing.... otherwise Western Africa should dominate the world cup. It is a organizational/cultural thing.

Football is a team sport. It requires a high level of organization, from early youth development to the national teams. That whole infrastructure, when in place, develops amazing football players, one after the other.

If the marathon was a team sport, it would not be Ethiopians and Kenyans dominating but rather Europeans too.

We do not have anything near the organization of Western and Central Europe. Our players lack the basics of team sports. And so we struggle.

I challenge you to find the combined completed pass rate of all of the teams in the world cup. See where Iran stands (hint, it's at the bottom).

For Iran to reach the next level or higher, we need that infrastructure in place... Plus twenty years to develop our kids. Not going to happen anytime soon.

Exactly organization, team work and spirit are key in football, something us and Africans lack big time. Some none European countries have these (Japan, Australia, US, SK) but they lack passion for these sport, raw talents and innate quality.
European have all the package and even count on immigration to get further quality and talents

I sometimes wonder if we would've gotten better results with Sko who would've played younger /fresher legs ….hindsight

What younger players did he play exactly? The penalty prone Nourafkan?

He played 3-4 players that couldn't run 45 mins let alone 90+ anymore and barely played at a high level as our defensive wall

“Simply, your coach should have been much more honest in choosing players who deserved it instead of loyal ones, and much braver in terms of strategy, instead of being a showman, then you would have had a chance.”

Somewhat Legit complaints there ..! ☝️
also about accusations about some in mgmt side & players ganging up on him to facilitate the transition to CQ.

the rest is by enlarge just oghdi talk & taking the piss, which is understandable considering how close he got to coaching TM @ WC before getting dicked unceremoniously out of it ..!

I don’t know about the rest of you but I can not take anymore of CQ ..!
he was really piss poor in his starting line up & tactical approaches to our WC games & even his subs & game day adjustments left plenty more to be desired ..!
give me fking anyone else. CQ has had enough chances already.. don’t care domestic or foreign
