He has experienced the same deterioration, at the same rate, as all the other big hopes over the last 5 years.

he developed more into a false 9. Good ball retention and link play, always had an eye for goal and good heading ability. Stylistically similar to firmino

I was hyped by him before, wasn't him slow as a player?

Shekari is playing a system which gets him lots of opportunity. Sadeghi was in the same role last year and got tons of goals and assists the same way.

He dominated at youth level, all age groups, through u20 Asian cup and U20 WC (all 3 games vs costa rica, Zambia who had many future stars, and Portugal).

Issue was team was always built around him. When required to fit into already established team structures he struggled a bit, bc as a CM he is not defensively aware enough or intense without the ball. As a wing he is not fast enough.

Best position for him is right next to CF or as false 9, unfortunately few teams play with such systems, but GN catered to his needs a bit more and quickly he became a real asset.

"This is a totalitarian system whose presence people feel in their blood and in their flesh on a daily basis. And it’s one that does not grant freedoms of any kind, or accommodate people’s demands in any way. What is increasingly clear is that there is clear demand for change in the regime. What the people want is regime change, and no return to the past. There is a very real possibility of regime change." - Nasrin Sotoudeh

Agreed. And they could invite a team or 2 from outside the region like Concacaf and Conmebol does. Is this a definite go and will it be annually?

Looks like Russia and Thailand are invities. China also expressed interest.

Bishkek and Tashkent are host cities.

I'm not too crazy about inviting teams from outside the region. Not that it wouldn't help for stronger teams to participate but rather because it wouldn't be so much a Central Asian tournament anymore and it might diminish its importance for central Asian teams.
A better analogy would be Ireland's presence in the European Championship and in the now defunct USCup. They obviously showed more passion for the Euros and fought to get results while for the USCup as they were invited guests it didn't mean as much and they frequently fielded reserve teams. The exclusivity of it will increase the importance for the participants.

It's done wonders for our futsal and beach soccer and they get regularly invited to tournaments with non Asian teams. I wouldn't open it up to more than 2 teams. I think it could be an opportunity for TM to get more competitive matches as the CAFA teams are largely weaker than even the WAFF teams.
