CQ isnt much of a bandaid, quick turnaround type of a coach for any team..!!
it often takes him more than a year or so in order to stamp out his authority and fully convince and discipline his squad into buying into his statistically-sound, result driven but rather chicken-shittiesh and boring, overly defensive footballing philosophy..!!
In Iran ( especially during our utter shambles and desperate TM footballing status ) when he first took over, he possessed the aura and coaching resume to garner respect and following from players and most footballing officials n so on, thus able to build something relatively special from ground up..!!
in jobs like Colombia/Gutter or to a lesser extent Egypt too .... who are already spoiled with higher levels of coaching and footballing facility riches and organizations , he will have a much tougher task of selling his footballing ideologies in a Timely manner in order to avoid getting the sack before its fully come to fruition ..!

let's face it, he is way too 1dimentional and predictable tactically and the modern game of football has passed him by..! even for us, his true brilliance and value as a coach was mostly his off the pitch accomplishments..... such as finally instilling some professionalism and accountability in our playing squad and especially so in finally force establishing some Foresight, PRE -Planning and Organizations in our forever corrupt and lousy operating federation ..!

87 actually. For reference, China is 81, Jordan is 84, Bahrain is 85 and Syria is 90. Qatar is 61.

That one tactical dimension that he did have was very needed and addressed our deeply seeded and perennial flaw... defense! He taught us how to have a solid defense for the first time in TM at least in the last 40 years. This abrupt past stint aside, I have never had the peace of mind that gained defensively with any other coach.

He left and suddenly beiranvand wasn't the amazing keeper anymore. And our defense started conceding a lot more, and to lesser teams...at least until Skocic restored the old order somewhat.

With CQ we learned how not to lose to smaller teams... unfortunately we did not learn how to beat better teams...Maybe Qatar needs that but we reached a point where we needed something more.

Akram afif, hassan al haydoos, abdelkarim hassan, boualem khouki, ro-ro, karim boudaif are all missing from the tournament. That’s their 6 most important players arguably aside from almoez…..it’s not their full team for sure.

He is using this tournament as a preparation for the WCq , results do not matter , it is A /B Qatar team , Qatar doesn’t really have that many players anyway , so he is testing the most promising youth players , I am sure that they won’t qualify from their group the next 2 games maybe be 0-0 results

He is preparing this team for games against
The bigger Asian teams , Asia gets 8 spots and mostly likely , Iran/Saudi/Korea/Japan/Australia..,,, will qualify that leaves 3 spots left

he was testing the defense in this games , Haiti pressed for almost the whole games , , QC had no offense and players in the game it was like a bunch of defenders……

QFF all the asked him was to qualify this team for the World Cup and show a respectable results in the World Cup that means if the make it to the World Cup even three 0-0 games and max 3 points will be a big upgrade for them , or even 1 win and 2 losses …

I personally believe his tactics are out dated , no matter how you view it , you can not play defense for 90 minutes, you need to attack and press , ..

modern football is about offense, the best teams in the world play to win , no one plays for a tie anymore , even the kings of 0-0 games Italy play offense now, the athletic nature of the players now , makes it nearly impossible to play defense for 90 minutes

like you telling me you going to allow a players like Mbappe or lokakua or Neymar or whoever attack for 90 minutes and you defend of course they going to score on you , just like how England scored and we had no response to them…

Apparently government of Iraq gave their football federation $60 million (which means they got it from IRI). Probably it was during Ahmadinejad's era. If I understood correctly, it means now FFIRI is behaving like a beggar, asking Iraq from that money pay ffiri's expenses. Ahmadinejad was notorious for "bakhshesh az kiseye khalife", gave money to many countries such as Iraq, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Comoros, and many others.

No wonder Iraq went on a rampage and built many stadiums, and lined up high profile friendlies with Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Peru, Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia.

Iran, Iraq football federations ink MoU

TEHRAN, Jun. 20 (MNA) – Football federations of the Islamic Republic and Iraq have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to further expand bilateral relations.

The signing ceremony was held with Adnan Dirjal and Mehdi Taj, the heads of the Iranian and Iraqi federations, in attendance.
The MoU, that was signed in Baghdad, will be valid for one year, the statement issued by the Iraqi football federation said.
The cooperation document could be extended for one more year, added the statement.
The MoU addresses exchanging know-how in holding football leagues, training sporting staff, and playing friendly matches, as well as sharing experience in managing human resources in the field of football.

dont want to diminish CQ's massive contributions to iranian football but it's not too difficult to defend well as a team when 80-90% of the game time you got some 9-10 players packed in your own half the pitch...! it still takes skills and discipline by our players to stick to their zonal defensive responsibility and shift the defensive pressures to where needed w/o overcommitting to one zone and forget to cover the other and the fitness to retrieve back to organized defensive duties everytime after losing possession on counters..!
Bey was the Biggest beneficiary of those Ultra Defensive team tactics of Carlos... as he was hardly challenged in goal barring a few isolated game situations here n there so no doubt he became overrated AF by us in that process....
i said from day one that he is solid keeper but he certainly was way overrated.... and proven right when he failed miserably when he moved to Europe.!
by the same token, like i said before CQ was way too one dimensionally Defensive, some 70-80% of Ws under his reign was a 1-0 win and almost every time when his ultra defensive tactics failed and whenever conceded the first goal then we were pretty much fooked..!
he didnt have a plan B worked out to get us back into the game after conceding the opener... Proven so many times over.... as late as last WCs and ACs he coached with us ..!

i still think that his biggest and most valuable contributions to Iranian football was away from the actual games..!!

All one can do is call these people traitors.

These MOUs are also completely useless - we have some with actually good countries in football and nothing has come out of it.

What the people want is regime change, and no return to the past. There is a very real possibility of regime change." - Nasrin Sotoudeh

I don't see the benefit of playing a team like Azerbaijan. Would have rather Bolivia, Ecuador, or Armenia.
