TM staff is pretty good. The criticism has been harsh. I had this discussion with another great PFDC member.
Assistants aren't going to have the same profile of a head coach.
They each contribute in their own way.
Motahari - former player, Yahya's assistant for at least 3-4 seasons. Was considered the tactical brains behind the Persepolis teams of the past seasons.
Rezaei - former TM player. Serie A defender. CV clear to all.
Manicone - Former Azzuri player. Has been an assistant at the top level for 11 seasons. Irony is he gets no criticism because he's Italian, even though he's the one apparently responsible for defense.
Alhoei - former player. GN's assistant at club level for many seasons. One of few coaches in Iran who is familiar with and uses data for his work. A level coaching certificate from AFC. He's also a PhD student for sports physiology.
Teymourian - CV clear.
The only one who has a questionable CV is the guy recording the data and has some sort of $400 Barca certificate.
Hatred these guys are getting has been too much.

What can explain the defensive problem during 1 year and the awful level 0 subs in our game.
It's about the parts making a whole and complementing each other well.
In the 90s/2000s, Sir Alex admitted his team doesnt know/doesnt play defense and will let Quieroz figure it out.
Quieroz was a defensive tactician and that held fix United's weaknesses and aided to PLs/2 CL etc.
Staff is decently good now and it showed with players like Ando and Rezaei using experience to motivate our players.
We just don't have a lot of strong defensive tacticians in Iran.
If IFF somehow went off and fired GN tomorrow and hired De Zerbi we would play some exquisite passing football but still not know how to organise defensively without someone else helping him.

At the end of the day, you can't polish a turd.
With respect Nokhodi jan!

What is more surprising is that the same players were playing excellent defensive under CQ, for years. How can't they ditch everything.
The players can't memorize everything and just keep the knowledge especially when they are asked to play differently under a new TM manager and their own clubs.

They had instructions and training that reflected that. I've seen some United documentaries about that time as I grieve on what our team is now, and apparently Quieroz was so tough on positioning of players he would put mats down and show them where they had to be at each second.

We lost on a random deflection, and a player like Rezaeian not getting back in line.

CQ would hide our defensive weaknesses with numbers.
It became clear to me in this tournament most of our defenders, except for Shoja and Mimo don't actually know how to win the ball back.
The biggest mistake GN made was starting Omid in the middle. He left a massive hole in the middle which left the defense on the backfoot.
