Ezatollahi just turned 28, he is staying in TM till 2030. So is Azmoun. Taremi and ARJ though will most likely retire after 2027.

Regardless though the reason why we don't have a bridge to the next generation is because we played the same exact players for 8 years. We have all these talented kids dispersed throughout PGPL and diaspora that could be just as strong as the current generation if someone was capable of putting them together in a team.

Idk from what I remember CQ definitely needed a bridge and even steroid injection in form of Dejagah and Ghuch. Without those two, TM don’t go to Brazil.

Talent is there in iran JUST NEED RIGHT COACH TO PUT IT TOGETHER..
We currently have least talented TM since late 90s! Compare the players of today to the players in their positions back then. I want to mention some names vali bacheha in roozha kheily hassas shodan lol.

The first part of your reply makes my head hurt.

The second part is correct. And a reality that many don’t want to accept or can’t comprehend. Lol mage Ezatolahii kiye ke we don’t have a better CM in a country that big? Dar owjesh he was literally sitting on the bench for an entire season in Belgium while 30 year old Ebrahimi was fixed starter! Now if he was a Premier League player in his prime then we could say ok there is reason for his place in Tm until 35. I think Noorafkan and the other one from u17, forgot his name, played more in Belgium! In ACL there was 30 year old IPL midfielders running circles around him!

Of course any coach take over he will use some of existing players on roster.he won't invite 25 new players EVEN IF HE DO THAT a right coach with persian players talent can put a nice team together in 6 months.

97 team had better midfielders then this team.

Forward position heck give medi and sardar the 97 team midfielders they WILL PUT UP SOME AMAZING NUMBERS.

Defense we have better defenders now then we did in 97.

Goalie I take abedzadeh because of that horrible defense line he was still amazing.

90s team had better goali and midfield
This team has better defenders and forwards.

The reason we are unable to have smooth bridges to the next generation is because of partybazi and relying on talent waves alone.

For decades now we have relied on individualism. In 1998 to 2006 era it was great players on a team like Bagheri, Daei, Karimi carrying the team to greatness.

We had a dark period until 2011 with CQ's arrival who eventually made Team Melli into lower mid table level Premier league side defensively after a lot of work. Even in that period we still needed individual goals by Nekounam or Gucci to get through.

Now more recently its a matter of our attackers being just past their primes bailing out our defense.

What we actually need is for teaching of the basics to take over for ALL of our players.

We don't produce players; we merely use their talents.

We have players like Milad Mohammadi who really only can run fast or defend. Other players like Shoja can only aerially duel and cant play on the ground.

Look at how Germany produces players like Wirtz/Havertz/Kimmich/Musiala who can play multiple positions and are well rounded.

Japan is doing the same. Maybe now they don't have Nakamura or Keisuke Honda but they will produce balanced quality.

We need more players with those basics so if our talent ebbs and flows we still have a strong foundation.

Hence the renewed importance on going abroad to master the basics for all of our players. If you notice, all these defenders like Shoja/Kanaani spent their prime years in the Qatari league and it shows. Our only technically capable and sound defender is Majid Hosseini who is also built like a tree twig with all of his injuries. This type of infrastructure takes 15-20 years to build and 30 years to realize as kids go through it. Even Japan started with all of this in 1990s and is finally seeing fruition with how frequently they are getting through to the r16 at the World Cup.

I have never been fully convinced by Majid. He's a slightly stronger Shoja. They should be called "the penalty brothers".

He's very sound technically which in modern football is essential for a CB. His problem is his growth got stunted after deciding to stay in a bottom level turkish team his whole career when he had offers from Serie A.

You see the common denominator? All of our defenders are always hanging around arab/turkish leagues.

You can even see the regression in Saeed since he went to shitty Danish and UAE teams, he's afraid to challenge for the ball now
