Granted he was great in World Cup 2018 but he's lived off that reputation for as long as he could, leading to his record transfer to Man Utd. Lately his performances for BOTH club (when he does play) and country have been abject. His positioning and decision making, both for club and country, has become a point of ridicule among the fans. At times he looks like a lower league player who's been given a surprise call up to the first team.

In England's last game (3-3 draw with Germany), he was at fault for the first 2 goals. Gave away a penalty then lost the ball high up the pitch and was out of position as Germany broke to go 2-0 up.

"Never lets England down"... except for his "defensive master classes" where England gets exposed and gives away big chances to the opposition, regardless of whether they score or not OR his 31st minute red card against Denmark in the Nations League 2 years ago.

He's a massive liability and the weak link in that team and Southgate persists with him.
