Queiroz is a terrible manager. He did the same thing with Egypt and cost us a WC spot. So glad we sacked him.

The moment I saw that disgusting starting lineup I could see this outcome. What the hell was that retard thinking. A lineup that has never played competitively together and benching half your first team. I am sure his malekeshs would still defend the decisions though.
Surely Skocic wouldn't do worse and without an 8-1-1 lineup!

i still don't get how FIFA allows UK to put out 4 countries, its just unfair, Wales is just an extension on England and in the same group, just why?????????????

Very much needed experience, they had nothing to lose, literally. If they can't play with giants on a regular basis than there will be no progress. Asian cup, Cyrus, we are better than arabs b s is not going to cut it Hopefully when meritocracy and geyrat(not tokhmeh behind computer screen) start rebuilding Iran , our TM will thrive and win its first cup.our champions will pay tribute to

Conflicted on what I am more upset about, the lose or how these players were treated. Like I’ve said before, many of the could have decided not to participate and today they showed they are with the people with the black rust bands not singing the anthem. Getting call besharaf by your own people, all the cheers for England scoring. For me they did there part to show solidarity considering everything. All the people sitting comfortably at there homes and expecting more from these players have to look in the mirror and ask themselves are they will to put everything at risk. 6-2 wa bad but most of these boys didn’t deserve this treatment.

My last comment on this subject here as per the moderators but you are not the authority on what mods here do or dont do. They can do what they want.

Some Team Melli Players did terrible things going to see Raisi and bowing. One of them deservedly got hit in the face today and prob out of WC.

Not going to paint the whole team as bache basijis...

Lets not act like Daei, Karimi, Mahdavikia, Nekounam, Ando, Bagheri etc did not do the same thing with Mahmoud Meimoun. All this gesturing is useless without results.

A good rule of thumb is to never ask more of someone than you are willing to do yourself. If you live abroad, what are you willing to do?

You're right it was a bad gamble that paid poorly. I'm guessing his logic was to use maximum force against US and Wales. As we were getting smashed 3-0, he brought in the team A setup. That team went 3-2 and played pretty decent second half.

It happened, it's over now. We know that same risk won't be taken against Wales and the US since it's clear there's no room for putting forward a weaker lineup

I'm shocked how good Danish commentators have been this time, they actually praised Taremi, and said he would have banged in 3 goals if he played for England. They were right, these 2 guys can perform, but just gets horrible play from the rest fo the team..
Taremi is a super star, he scored against giants.

Amir. Firstly, Uruguay game was a friendly. Secondly, we never won 2-0. We won 1-0.

Long time since I posted here. First of all, teams like brazil have lost 7-1 too. This is football. Why are people taking this so hard? Its already over and done with. There are 2 games left and nothing is decided yet. Also sometimes you loose sometimes you win. Sometimes disasters happen, sometimes not.

All those CQ fanboiss are hiding right now. But they shouldn't. They should consider where the main problem with iranian football lies. Is it deeply structural in our football or based on a coach. When one is pointing out their fallacy and cultish appraisal of a mere man, you would always hear some illogical bs.

Look guys, we have slow players in mid and defence. They were totally outpaced today. They lost all aerial battles too. How should either Skocic or CQ fix this problem? Our problem is management oriented and the lack of youth system. We also have serious accountability issues in federation where some players for real can do a coup together with semiofficials and reinstate a coach in last minute.

Right now, coaches is iranian footballs smallest issue.

Another thing: I stood by skocic until he was resigned. I will do the same regarding CQ. Start being havadars and stop being hypocrites. Especially all those woke cancel ppl hating on a team but hanging around on iranian football forums. Shame on all turncoat fans!! If level of football was the main concern I would watch real madrid at champions league finals. Results are secondary!

On a positive note, at least it was a very attractive game for the neutral spectators. The very last thing to expect from a Queiroz team 😅.

I want to talk a bit about the psychological aspect of the game and player selection. We know that the Iranian players have been under tremendous pressure because of the suffering of the people in Iran. I don't think England, Argentina or Brazil would have handled the adversities any better. Just look at how Brazil imploded in 2014 and gave up 6 goals to Germany. But today, the way Hajsafi met Harry Kane before the start of the game seemed to have set the tone, as he addressed him with a nervous smile while Keane maintained a stoic demeanor without a hint of affection. Kane didn't do anything wrong;he was being professional and extremely focused on the task ahead. Iranian players, through body language, showed the same kind of deference and admiration towards Mexican national team players as both teams were waiting outside the tunnel to enter the field. And they lost that game badly. Conversely, at half time against Argentina, as they were walking out of the tunnel, they were determined, driven and, above all, fearless. When they stepped on the field, they huddled together in an absloute show of unity and challenged their opponent fearlessly. And they performed marvelously in the second half. ( Before the start of the second half, am American friend of mine commented: These players are ready for a battle.)

To beat Wales, Iran, first of all, needs to change its mindset. The players obviously need to get rid of the fear that paralyzed them in the first half. After all, what do they really have to lose?

As for player selection, I was astounded not to see the experienced Ezzatollahi start against a fast and physical team like England. Where was Ghodoos? Is it wise to start Cheshmi against a tall and physical team? He nearly gave away a penalty. Also, as I had feared, Iran didn't seem to have a plan to counter England's aerial superiority. Wales and the U.S. probably think they can use the same blueprint against Iran and CQ needs to make the necessary adjustments to defeat that strategy. Just think what the team could have done today with a healthy Beiro and Azmoun, along with addition of players like Saman, Amriri and Ezza. They are capable of performing a lot better.
