VAR favored us. The scoreline could have been 1-7, not 2-6.

I was honesty planning to cut ties with Iranians after today, but this forum gave me hope.
Yep. A person who has been sending me lots of anti-TM posts and judging me and others for supporting TM is the very same person that went to the Iranian embassy in London and voted for Rouhani.

Bad luck, losing Beyranvand. Hosseini, is a terrible goalkeeper, some college keepers are better than him. The team played well in the 2nd half, what should have been a 3-3 draw, but 2-3 is not bad. I understand the total score looks bad but when I look back at Brazil losing 1-7 to Germany in the semifinal of the 2014 World Cup and at HOME for that matter, 2-6 is not the end. Just regroup and go for the win in the remaining two games.
Lastly, this antic of not singing the national anthem has to stop. What has the national anthem have to do with the game? Play for IRAN and its people. Keep the politics out, where it belongs. Rooting for England by any Iranian is a terrible posture.

A woman came to my sister and her friends in the pub in London yesterday and starting shouting at them calling them traitors for supporting Team Melli. My sister was born in London, can barely speak persian, only recently starting connecting to Iranian culture. She also got abuse from family members on IG telling her not to support TM.

This cult-like behavior is getting pretty scary. How can these people let themselves get so brain-washed? I know several very smart people that have gone this route too. It's like if they're in an echo chamber long enough, they'll believe whatever they hear with logic simply going out the door.

Sorry to hear this about your sister, she didn't deserve that at all.

Reading these posts are why I had a beef with a certain "member" (he just came here to talk politics) who always had "heart attacks" when I told him, babajan people have different opinions. I told him opinions are not illegal and should not be something you turn against a person. I got the answer that indeed Opinions should be forbidden. This or that person should be cancelled and put in prison.

Ladies and gentlemen, here we have the result! As Omid Djalili famously said: Iranians cannot even let you eat your fruit in peace: "Peeeel the oranjeeee ethiiiis wayyy!".

Iranians in iran have a long way to go before they deepen their shallow understanding of freedom and rule of the people.

What do you mean "some"? I personally know at least one ex-college keeper who could do a better job. I know a few others who played pro in their small south or central American home countries, who could do better. There are many rec-league keepers with good experience who would have (at least) shown more activity on those shots.

He didn't even move on many of those goals. It's like he was scared, and mentally checked-out. I don't care about the situation, as a keeper (who is the heart of the defense and voice from the back), he has to be a totally different player. He isn't, and shouldn't see the pitch for the rest of the tourney. I'll take error prone but athletic and tough Abedzadeh over him, any day.

The national anthem is directly connected to the current regime, which they do not support. That's why. It's a form of protest. All understand, including the Iranian people, some of who think it's not nearly enough.

I am of the opinion we can and will beat at least one of USA and Wales. Fans and pundits of other teams do not understand that the lineup against England was.. awful, and losing Beiro was even more awful. I know CQ put that lineup out there on purpose with the idea of: "We will probably not get a result against England, so why not save half of our starters for the more important games against Wales and USA, since we can realistically beat them?"
That was the idea behind his lineup. Unfortunately, he didn't foresee us losing so badly that it affects our psyche too negatively, especially with all of the geopolitical rhetoric from Western news outlets, and the domestic unrest.
