I'm browsing other sites and some of our hamvatans are gathering protesting support from kharejis going to the matches. They just don't see how TM can bring the masses to the streets and unite a nation in a cause. Such short sightedness. Alas this is why Iran has lacked stability over the last few ce tries because longterm gains are sacrificed for short term goals.

Been an old timer on this forum and people who have been here for a long time. Some old timers know who I am and what I have done for Iranian football. Just came here to say, cant wait to see these talentless hacks get their assess handed to them against England, USA and Wales. To each their own but this is not my TM, this is Basiji FC

      Welcome back in 7 days

Baba wait to see what they do on the worlds biggest stage. Why are other athletes praised and TM not even given an fn chance!

Such an armchair analysis against TM...from a guy who is safely preaching from kharej.

Probably 5’8, 150 lbs, lives in orange county ca, no kids, white girlfriend Jessica/Jennifer, hasn’t been to Iran in 20+ years and only interested in doing so if (according to his own videos) he can get drunk and stumble around meydun azadi with no clothes. Az inha kheily didam…

I didn't see Basij FC qualify for the world cup. So guess you will have to wait longer to see them lose 😉

Do we all agree that TM represents Iran? After all, it is the national team, team of the nation. Now, do we also not agree that our nation comprises people with different ideologies, priorities and belief systems? Then, why is it that we are shocked to see a few players siding with the murderous regime, some strongly supporting the youngsters begging for basic human rights, and others in between?

Athletes are not role models; if you imagine them to be role models, then you're mistaken and will be disappointed in most cases. They are athletes. They are supposed to do what they are trained for, that's it. Now if an athlete or artist chooses to risk their livelihood and career for a certain cause, we applaud them with immense appreciation. Think of it as icing on the cake!

                Go TM !!

To the old timers (especially dar kharej) who are so proud of being old… what did you guys do in your lifetimes that there are young people being killed in the streets today? What did you guys do yesterday that today you can point your fingers at a 25 year old who grew up in this same IR and got somewhere with their talents and say you’re not doing enough? (I’m obviously not referring to Amiri or Torabi) I know for fact many of you came to California and got involved in partying, mavad foroushi, fraud, embezzlement, etc… Iranetuno vel kardin hala vatan parast shodin… better late than never…

                    Group B: Iran

Team Melli head into their third World Cup under Carlos Queiroz and their record under the 69-year-old is mixed. A measly one-point haul in 2014 to finish bottom of their group behind Argentina, Nigeria and Bosnia and Herzegovina was followed by a surprisingly competitive 2018 which saw the Iranians come third and just one point behind both Portugal and Spain. Set against a backdrop of enormous political upheaval back in Iran, this squad has the tools to potentially get out of Group B which also features England, Wales and the United States men's national team. FC Porto's Mehdi Taremi, Bayer Leverkusen's Sardar Azmoun and Omonia's Karim Ansarifard are quality attacking options while Brentford's Saman Ghoddos and Feyenoord's Alireza Jahanbakhsh add to that strength in midfield and captain Ehsan Hajsafi playing alongside fellow defender Milad Mohammadi for AEK Athens. The situation back home will be a distraction, but it could also make Team Melli a source of inspiration and positivity for Iranians around the world at a difficult time.

We are our own worst enemy. Imagine the following facts:

                      - The vast majority of TM players are against the IR regime.

                      - TM has been the most popular institution in Iran that historically has galvanized the people to pour into the streets and scare the sh*t out of IR.

                      - IR's strategy has always been to split its people and give people nothing to unite around. Create made up enemies and have people hate these enemies.

And IR just made TM be the thing that splits the people. Some people hate TM and some don't. But more importantly, the people that hate TM dislike TM fans and vis versa... Who just won? IR, that's who. We fell right into their traps.

IR has complete control over the players, their families, their wealth, etc... We expect each TM player to be a suicide bomber or a Kamikaze bomber (die for the cause) and that is just an unreasonable expectation which has led to disunity amongst the very same people that would like to see the end of IR sooner rather than later.

                        I'm really pissed off...

Bandwagon nation is at it again. One picture, one comment by some social media wannabe, celebrity and our hamvatans go nuts. We were never taught how to manage our high intelligence and sensitivity. The political education we got in schools, at home from gormeh sabzi(don't get me wrong, I love it) community is toilet worthy.
If in doubt, look at diaspora tv channels our parents follow.

TM is under enough pressure as it is. They always have been. Imagine the weight on their shoulders: hostage taking IR,Iranian lengesh kon diaspora naneh ghamars, wishy washy fans and the list goes on...
Harry K would run to the mountains if he had to deal with half of what our players put up with daily.

Before you knock TM remember how far these guys have come and the joy they have brought over the years. They have made you proud to be Iranian...vicariously. They're far braver, more ba geyrat than our highly educated, prominent, modern looking, I love Cyrus, we are not a third world country Perssshians (Iranians). We get caught up in these b.s divide and rule celebrity stories and forget who the real bi geyrats(benefited from IR), criminals are.

They're not perfect, they're not supposed to be. Most of them come from jonoob shahr, they've worked their butts off. We forget how our status and class obsessed community breeds basiji, ogdei individuals.

Don't support them nor follow them if you feel disgusted by their presence at the WC but please don't go telling England to score against your hamvatans and other k...k... like that. Who is the childish bisharaf now? Your windy brain cells, your attitude has cost us lives over the years. Read that again.

I have faith that Iran is going to protest tomorrow because I've been thinking about it a lot. Most athletes in Iran that have protested had a stage to do it at where everyone would see the way they protested, But where was Iran going to protest? In a game against Nicaragua or Uruguay with no fans and no cameras, what would be the point? Sure, they could go to their Instagram and then it gets locked off and then you don't go to the World Cup. I still don't see the point of not playing the World Cup. What if though you get there and that's your biggest stage/platform and you make a statement in front of the entire world. Is that not using your platform for the greater good of the cause, no? Basically you kiss ass and behave so you don't get left off the roster. Make it to the tournament and make a big opening statement where no one can unsee it? I have faith. They need this platform, mainstream media only cares about Elon's Twitter drama. Some of my friends still don't understand how serious things are in Iran and some don't even know we're protesting. It's truly sad, but this is the state to finally get the world's attention.
