The irony is iranians dream of “democracy,” but many, utterly, and completely lack the democratic spirit:
      -Mixing politics with everything
      -Black & white mentality
      -My way or highway mentality
      -Guilty by association mentality

Strong, strong egos, digging our own graves.

After todays game I am just ashamed. Our boys were under immense pressure and the regime made clear to them that they have to sing the anthem and yet they didn’t. They risked the safety of their family, their careers inside Iran and their assets which can be easily seized by the regime after a protest like this. Everyone in the west respects and praised them when they boycotted the national anthem. I was very proud when I saw it but I did not expect such dishonourable and shameless comments and behaviors from our fellow countrymen. I regret reading the comments on nearly every Persian social media pages: They insult Team melli, wish them more losses and even state that they supported England. These comments are literally everywhere and they make me very sad and angry. And now imagine you are a Team Melli player seeing this. Every single person doing stuff like this is a traitor in my books. We have the barbaric regime killing and oppressing our people on the one side while on the other side we have degenerate Iranians posting stuff like this against our team. I just hope our players don’t get affected by this since it is exhausting to see comments like this. Oh and the funny part is that the majority of people who disrespect the team and say that this was not enough never did something similar. It is easy to talk why you are posting stuff like this on a safe place like Instagram, Twitter etc. Our boys proved that they have balls and ignoring that is shameless.

I did not expect the Iranians to behave in such a demeaning way, I expected such behaviour from the MEK, but apparently many in Iran have descended to this level.

I literally said to my my iranian friends today that you're like mojahedin and the were like no bla bla bla. They had the same thought "this is IR army, not Irans army"

There's video circulating of folks on motorcycles in Tehran rocking British flags. We had a member here not too long ago supporting all group B teams against Iran. Forget his name.

The thing is. This will be the last time we see Iran in the world cup for a long time. What players will dream to play for team melli after this ? What government will spend money for training camps or a european class coach again. Enjoy the last of team melli in the world cup , we ruined the national team today

To all the members who are also incredibly disheartened by what's happening both inside Iran and by the extremeness shown by Iranians, I say don't lose hope yet. There are many Iranians like us who while they dislike the regime, do not necessarily agree with the extreme black and white nature of some of the protestors.

Be there to still show your support and more importantly, when it is time whenever it may be, be there in helping to choose the new right direction for the country of Iran to move to and don't let Iran fall into chaos, Iran has not survived for thousands of years just to crumble now

Well, I actually did buy the jersey, and convinced the pub owner to let me hang it up. Of course, in the process, I moved over Ronaldo's jersey

I've been thinking of doing the same for Taremi's jersey, and after today's brace, I think I am going to see if I can convince the pub owner to let me hang Taremi's jersey up also.

didnt you order a Signed edition of it ..? when they were offering it on official bayer shop online..?

IR has done what they never thought they could do. Divide the country.

I also wholeheartedly support our players. Today they showed they are living a hell and their silence during the national anthem showed their hearts beat for our people not the IR. This news was picked up by many western media and had a huge effect on spreading the news as the reporters in every language talked about them not singing the IR anthem and even understood why Iranian players were not focused on the game hence the bad result.

Millions who watched the game now know very well what our people are going through only thanks to our players so even though my heart is broken and my personal emotions are running angry , I regret that I have overreacted and the way things are going there these days it is hard to look away but our boys need us more than ever now. The regime is on their case everyday and pressures them to do what they want and now their people are doing this to them so this is in no ways fair nor decent. We all (most of us) want the IR to go and expecting them players to defeat the IR on a football pitch is really a childish request. We have a lot more work to do together and outside of the pitch if we really want freedom as freedom costs much more than what we want to pay for. Let's not blame anyone else for things we ourselves fail at everyday. Let's be fair.

So I want to hereby show my FULL support for our fellow Iranian players. Our common anger should be focused towards the real people behind all these heartbreaks and killings not towards our own people or players. I wish them the best and hope they still put their hearts into the game foe the same people who are suffering. As playing in a TM without your people's support is not a very pleasant thing to do to say the least.
