I totally support the team and understand that they were under an unthinkable amount of pressure today.

For those that have been busy slinging every slur imaginable at this team - they are also under immense pressure and this is misplaced anger and sadness on the team.

People need to dig deep and understand the situation is not black and white.

I've been feeling ill seeing the nasty comments on IG related to posts from "fans" who are bashing our team and supporting England - celebrating their win. I can't imagine what the players are going through. If I were them I'd delete social media and try to block it out but way easier said then done. Enrages me what our fans are doing to them.

It's just the humble opinion from someone who is not even iranian. It's all very sad, most of the players have always been on the side of their people. What Taremi, Azmoun and other players said and did in their social media before deserved support. It all starts because the IR showed pictures of the players there, I know people expected players never sit with those murderers, but who fights for freedom it is contradictory to be against Torabi or anyone else for their political or religious choices, right? I follow every Iranian football match for about 10 years, definitely that's the best iranian generation I ever see, even because I know all the iranians teams in the last 25 years. This group is not per se weak, but it is the most accessible ever for Team Melli Iran. It was frustrating to see Iran thrashed, and it became clear that having tall and physically strong players is not enough, special after watch the impact of Gholizadeh and Torabi. Both could save the ball for few seconds. Jahanbakhsh is a player who has what it needs to be a solid left or right winger, but he is simply at a low point mentally after moving Brighton. This forum can write countless positive messages, nothing will change people's mindset against the squad... Maybe I'm selfish or I love football too much, but I miss when iranians went viral/fanatic supporting their players. Today, I only saw sad and scared players, I know Carlos Queiroz personally and I have a lot of respect for him, but today the plan simply goes wrong. England is a great team, but 6-2 is too much.

The truth is that with a draw in the Wales US match, 3 points in the next match could put Iran in second place. We have some advantages, there will be changes in the team and some fresh players will come in next match; the defenders will be much more cautious and organized for sure; We might surprise with some technical players like Ghoddos, Torabi and Gholizadeh; Azmoun might start; Taremi in individual terms is very motivated after scoring 2 goals and players will want to show a reaction after this shamefull day.


I sincerely hope that Iran fight for the 6 points in this two finals.

Same here, can't imagine what our poor lads are going through. The whole world is watching them, expecting to see some supportive action for the protests back home while the regime warns against it. In addition, they have to play some of the most important games in their careers.
