The reality is that Taremi & Azmoun can score against any team in the world. Therefore It is in our hands, 2 games, 2 wins needed against beatable opposition.

Also our worst nightmare has already come true, we got embarrassed and conceded 6 goals in front of the world in the worst fashion (Beiro getting injured, own fans turning on them on social media and chanting bisharaf in-person, an England team that was on top form, etc). Therefore there is no pressure from the "fans" anymore for the team to make them proud.

This is perfect, then they can go with calm heads knowing they don't need to lift people's spirits during a difficult time (the "fans" made it clear they don't support them). Their worst fear has already become a reality, and once that happens, there is nothing else left to fear. WE will see a totally different team melli against Whales in a few days.

The players know that the true fans are still standing behind them.

Hoping this was CQ's master plan all along. Sacrifice some pride in match against England and save some legs for Wales. Will have to have his best lineup against wales (defensively and attacking). Go for a shock win against Wales, and then focus on the US (win or tie).

that was CQ original plan, CQ was dead serious in playing like that for the whole tournament, he was dead serious, we are lucky that it failed miserably cause now we need to show who we really are and play some football , some offense style football

Not just the Welsh--Fox Sports, Lalas, et al; Telemundo, print media, etc. I give Marcelo Balboa credit for saying, on two occasions, that Iran were unlucky, as their goalkeeper left the game with a serious injury. Everyone else talks about Iran in passing. The U.S. team also believes a win over Iran is in the bag.
This is the definition of true underdogs. By the way, Lalas thinks the U.S. have a good chance against England because they're the undedogs. But he doesn't feel that way about Iran. That's why Iran needs to fire on all cylinders on Friday. We need to beat Wales and have England win against US, so that US would still be at 1 point when they face Iran and Wales to have to go all out against England to keep any hopes alive.

This would also be a good scenario: Iran beats Wales and the U.S. draws with England. This way England would be forced to beat Wales, and Iran would only need a draw against the U.S. to advance. Iran is actually in a very good position, as it has put the most difficult game behind it. Let's face it: Wales and the U.S. are smaller challenges than Spain and Portugal, whom we faced four years ago. The only thing that separates the two is the ongoing external pressures.
