Saudi beating Argentina is not just pure luck it is the result of many years of planning and moving in the right direction.

Also they aren't riddled with their own fans swearing and harassing their own national team every chance they get.live in matches and on social media.

There are big differences between their football infrastructure and ours.

This conversation is a great one to have. I think we should have it though after the Wales and US game - that will determine CQ's legacy and don't worry, his biggest fans aren't absolving him of any mistakes.
Saudi Arabia is miles ahead of IR Iran in pretty much everything. But fake Persian pride prevents us from admitting the truth. These people were walking in sandals in deserts just 80 years ago.

Their women don’t even have to wear forced hijab. Their leaders actually spend on their people and country’s development instead of just siphoning and stealing money to go to the “evil” West.

Our football fans were supportive of TM until recently, so it’s not lack of support.

Unfortunately, football is indicative of real life sometimes.

I wish we had Renaed, but I don’t know if it would have made a difference - he’s dealing with shit infrastructure, shit federation, child-killing regime, f’d up situation …

Hopefully we can have pro-Iran government in the future and never look back on our neighbours.

One of the thing me and other Iranian have talked about how such a small, new country like Qatar is hosting the World Cup - when it should have been Iran with its vastness, culture, history ..
"This is a totalitarian system whose presence people feel in their blood and in their flesh on a daily basis. And it’s one that does not grant freedoms of any kind, or accommodate people’s demands in any way. What is increasingly clear is that there is clear demand for change in the regime. What the people want is regime change, and no return to the past. There is a very real possibility of regime change." - Nasrin Sotoudeh

He messed up yesterday but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for the two remaining games.

Ultimately the blame lies with IFF for not appointing Hervé Renard when he himself wanted to be our coach!

Deep down we all knew this WC was a lost cause. CQ's appointment was a consultation and gave us some false hope.

He went from being a national hero to an enemy of the people (most of them). If Iran wasn´t in the current situation he would probably not been an enemy but his legacy would have been shattered anyway. We can not deny that a 6-2 loss is absolutely embarassing. Other coaches have also proved that ultra defensive tactics isn´t the best way to go when you meet superior teams.

          Even if we advance, 6-2...

You are all forgetting Saudi was blown out 8-0 not long ago in WC but they have improved. The issues around corruption, lack of infrastructure etc did not result in such scorelines until CQ showed up we seem to ve regressing back to Wilmots days or worse.

Do I need to remind folks CQ also was at helm for Colomboas worst ever defeat as well? Are his tactics outdated and exposed?

Look alot of things went fright for Saudi today and a lot went wrong for Argentina. But that’s what football is, taking your chances !

Self belief, not thinking about off field problems, and of course using the right players matters.

Sorry I don't agree. Saudis played in the way that
a lot of things went right for them and a lot went wrong
                for Argentina.

It wasn't lady luck for 114 minutes!!!
It was the way the Saudis played.

Go look at the first half. Luck factors in. It’s not black and white.

can you write a bit about what you saw yesterday from the Iran fans in the stadium ? From what I heard on tv, it could only be described as bipolar.

That was over 20 years ago. most of these players were either
not born yet or just toddlers. 20 years is a long time but
in 20 years they have come to the point they beat the WC favourite
2-1 and we have regressed so much that we get trashed 6-2
we are moving in the opposite direction.

We had luck too. Cheshmi foul in the box was a lot worse than Saudi foul. One was called a PK and one wasn't. So it can't be luck only. And luck is a product of your efforts. Those who are lucky are determined and work hard.

I wouldn't deny that. We were lucky versus Morocco in 2018 too! I'm just saying it's not black and white for me.

                                First half?!
Do you mean the way Saudis played the offside trap!?
                                They were brilliant.
