Maybe EPL, UCL, and Canada's resurgence has spoiled me but we played bad tactically. Our defence was solid but our passing play, attacking play was terrible as always. In any case whatever helps make the R16 with all that's going on would be a bright achievement for our football. I'm still not very confident about CQ though personally

Now onto the USA game, viva Iran!

Not sure if anyone mentioned, but Majid Hosseini was absolutely fantastic. Top performance from a TM CB - might have been the best ever. When you play more open and go toe to toe, you need great individual defenders and he completely shut down Bale and the Welsh attackers in individual defending situations. Absolutely night and day from the England game. Bravo to him.

- I'm not at all disappointed by the players mumbling through the anthem with no enthusiasm. They showed their intention in the first match and I'm sure they've had some serious threats against them.
- The line up was somewhat disappointing initially. Sadegh didn't deserve to be dropped. No Saman. But I guess it worked at the end of the day.
- Wales were shocking. They didn't challenge Iran's defensive weaknesses (Ezza's slow motion movements). They were also very slow to track back on defense. Iran had so much time unchallenged with the ball in their final third.
- Taremi is it. Best player in our history. Never seen an Iranian like him. Kudos to Both Hosseini's for rebounding from the shocking display against England. Ramin also had the game of his life.
- Gholi's creativity was a big key. I hope CQ utilizes our technically gifted played more (Saman).
- Cheshmi goal was nuts. He wasn't even looking at the net when he released the ball. Still don't think he should be getting significant playing time. Too much of a defensive liability.
- I want someone to explain to me why Hajsafi is taking our set pieces. For the love of god. I'm going to have a stroke over this.
- No bad performances. No not even JB.
- Between Sardar and Beiro, we clearly have an issue with risking players who are clearly injured. Sardar played decent, but there was no point in risking his future like that.
- All the English fans at the pub were cheering for Iran and respectful.
- Go TM, Zan Zendegi Azadi.

- Rezaeian MOTM. I was doubtful at his selection but his defensive work rate, willingness to surge up and join attacks, and final ball were all phenomenal
- The CM’s did a great job shutting down Wales in defense and set up nicely on transition
- Hosseini had good exits on the crosses
- Gholizadeh was phenomenal and played in such a bloodthirsty fashion, he will need to bring that against the US
- disappointed Ghoddos hasn’t featured yet, his control and linkup play is key towards the team maintaining some semblance of possession otherwise there’s a tendency to go too direct
- the tactics were copy pasted from the Morocco game, down to a tee

usa game could fit Ghoddos very well. Expect him to play, atleast as a sub instead of JB since he is suspended. Maybe even from start. The game can fit Karim with the ability to go deep and do some magical hold and passes and Torabis speedy in form play aswell.same gpes for Taremi and Azmoun, Aswell as Gholi
Wouldnt say the game would fit Arj so well? Maybe im wrong. NOUR will be important, cover ground with speed, Ezza to win central battles, and for passes. Wb will have to run s lot so not up and down in every attack, in the heat. Pick right moments to go flying fast up snd down.
Cqn be needed to sub wbs at some point......

I still am in total shock from what we saw, I don’t think anyone can argue this was one of the all time best TM performances given the stakes, circumstances, etc. and after what we saw vs England I don’t think anyone was realistically expecting a draw at best.
- without question this was Ramin’s best TM performance. He covered his space very well and went forward with a purpose every time. He synced incredibly well with Gholi too.
- Milad also was one of my MOTM candidates he was excellent in starting counters and also in his man marking, recovery, winning duels, etc.
- Hossein Hosseini was more than solid….his exits were confident, well timed and get strong hands on the ball when he was tested from point blank and then again at the top of the box at the end of the game.
- Majid Hosseini and PAG…..wow, just wow. I was most scared of those two when I saw them in the XI and like ramin I think they both played some of their best TM games ever. They went 1v1 with welsh mid and forwards quite a bit and won every single challenge.
- Hajsafi played lots of great balls and was great on counter attacks. His recovery on counters was solid. Ahmad Nour was pressing like a beast all game and Ezi was hitting key passes where he needed to and physically more than held his own.

Guys I am still in a shock of Cheshmi's goal. Wow. And as many mentioned Iran played a solid game and we should have scored more goals. Now even a tie against USA will put us in the next round unless Wales beats England with more than a goal. But a tie or a win against the USA and Wales tie or loses against England, will take us through.__________________________________________________ ________________________________________
