Doubt it….sounds very believable not just given the sources but also in that they have had some conflict in the past.

this is another good and relevant read:

Alongside WC 06 this is our easiest group ever. You don't get such a draw all time.
So not taking anything away from Wales game as it was well deserved win BUT, the team shouldn't be scared and Carlos shouldn't simply line up bunch of defensive guy to go for a tie.
We have enough weapon and speed and talents off the wingers with Torabi, Amiri, Gholi and upfront with 2 world class strikers.
If Hajsafi, Ramin, Gholi, Nour play as they did vs Wales, we will be in next round

Do you know what? I wouldn't pay any attention to this sort
of stuff prior to an important match. It means nothing.
It would be stupid to take this into any consideration
whatsoever. TM staff coach and players should make
plans and get well ready to play an organised, fit and all guns on fire
          US team.

Let's not forget about fatigue, because I think we should consider some factors that worked to our advantage in the game against Wales.

Not only did Wales have less rest time (a few hours) compared to TM and were coming off a fast-paced game against the US. I also do think the "middle of the day"-heat in yesterday's game affected the Welsh players more than it did to our players. I doubt anyone from Wales are used to play competitive games in such hot temperature (compare to our players that occassionally are forced by AFC to play qualifying games in the same region during the summer).

Unfortunately, the game against the US will be in the evening (local time), which eliminates a potential weather advantage to us. All of the US games have been in the evening. However, we do get more rest time again (even add some more hours this time) compared to the US. Also I feel like CQ has been able to rotate the players to give them some rest better than Berhalter who has been using almost the same players in both their games and who I guess will go with a similar line-up against us.

Mexico-Argentina game may not be the best analogy, but I see some parallels that are worth discussing. Mexico entered the game with a cautious plan, hoping that 2 points plus 3 garnered from the Saudi Arabia game would catapult them to the knockout stage. They used a 5-3-2 formation, mostly with a lone attacker who became exhausted after 30 minutes. Argentina, being a more skilled and creative team, maintained possession and continued pressing. Mexico kept the spaces tight until the two costly errors--the first somewhat similar to the one that led to Iran's demise against Argentina--ensured its defeat and possible elimination. The formation was a mistake, as you cannot keep a great team like Argentina at bay for an entire game; with this level of intensity and so much at stake, a team needs to attack to be able to unsettle its better opponent. Besides, Mexico was not entirely committed to playing impeccable defense, and they're not a great counter attacking team either.

Iran will similarly play a team with tremendous speed, skill, and stamina. The U.S will be on the attack from the outset, and Iran will have to be ready to close the spaces. Like Argentina, they also possess a great midfield. I see similarities here. That is why Iran, unlike the strategy it used against England, needs to play a hybrid game: Ferocious counterattacks propelled by tight defense. To accomplish that, I believe the players need to pace themselves, as this U.S team is likely to exhaust itself and, because of inexperience, commit errors that will provide Iran with opportunities to score. They're also not great finishers, but I bet they're working on that right now. Iran, overall, has the ability to contain the U.S pressure; it also has players with enough firepower to mount successful attacks. But to make that possible, it must avoid relying on a one-dimensional game plan with relentless defending; it has to combine that with intense bursts of offensive attacks, and by maintaining ball possession as much as it can. (Iran succeeded in games where its percentage of ball possession was not too far behind its opponent's.)

Which brings me to the next topic: fitness. Are our players as fit as the opponent? If not, preserving energy, right substitution, and a methodical approach to the game is key. Another important consideration is avoiding fouls in the area. The U.S is a very explosive team, especially during the first half of the game, and Iran needs to be careful with holding or grabing players. You don't want any penalty shots awarded to them.

This is probably the closest Iran has been to making history by advancining to the next stage of competition. It has a great team that is motivated. It is playing against a very good team, but one that is young and susceptible to mistakes that it can exploit. But can Iran carry the momentum and optimism generated from the Wales match into this critical game? To ensure that, The team needs to be united, focused, and well-prepared.

And last, both the government authorities and the fans should give the team and the coaching staff absolute support by refraining from excessive demands and let them take on this monumental and history-making challenge with aplomb and peace of mind.

So probably keep the same starting lineup.

However, Khalilzadeh-Kanaani were Team Melli's brilliant Central Defence duo, also Ghoddos is an experienced European player, I don't understand why these three are not in the starting lineup or not playing?

Jahanbakhsh has two yellow so won't be playing against USA, so who should be backup for Gholizadeh in Right Wing position? Would Ghoddos be a suitable choice?

Rezaeian and Pouraliganji both have one yellow each, so if they do start against USA they will be under pressure not to get their second yellow. So would it be better to have Moharrami and Khalilzadeh play instead of these two?
I thought teams start with a clean slate in the next stage and so having two yellow cards doesn't matter.

Yes, just like Mexico-Argentina game, the midfield is going to be highly important.

Not sure at what round they get wiped. If round of 16, then it would be good.

                              American media over hyping usa.
usa have scored 1 goal in two matches.
                              basically they have poor strikers.

                              Iran got this 3-1

If Quieroz lines up the team like he did vs England i will be so disappointed. He needs technical and attack minded players in the lineup to actually threaten USA otherwise they can attack without risk like England did.
