He improved both those sides a lot, has experience working in both 2nd division and top flight of england with Sheffield Wednesday and Swansea, he is a young coach with attacking system and has an eye for young players and talent development of existing stock.
If we cannot get him, Renard is a solid option, but not sure if he will become available.
Besides these I do not see many coaches willing to come to Iran at the moment. No domestic coach has showed anything to suggest they will do better than CQ. If we go for underqualified coach we will get rift in camp and embarassment. So in case carvalhal profile or renard is not available, stick with CQ but give mandate that teams need major refreshing like he did post 2014 successfully.DROOD BAR AHMAD KASRAVI.

Omid Namazi won't accept Team Melli Head Coach position with the current situation in Iran.
Does Mohammad Khakpour have USA Citizenship?
So which American you actually have in mind?

It doesn’t matter who the coach is.
Under this regime, IR Iran has hit its ceiling (3rd in first round of WC and semi-finals of Asian Cup). We have 43+ years of hard evidence to back this up
All footballing nations who thrive do so because they have excellent governments and democracies. We see this in our current confederation with Japan, Korea and Australia advancing. This rule of excellence extends way beyond Asia as well."This is a totalitarian system whose presence people feel in their blood and in their flesh on a daily basis. And it’s one that does not grant freedoms of any kind, or accommodate people’s demands in any way. What is increasingly clear is that there is clear demand for change in the regime. What the people want is regime change, and no return to the past. There is a very real possibility of regime change." - Nasrin Sotoudeh

Baba doostan, it doesn't matter which coach you hire. CQ, José Mourinho or Amir Ghalenoei.
There are key factors to success in any sport which we lack big time.
People (Human Resources, talents)
Management
Operations, youth development
Planning
Marketing
Finances (Assets, Facilities, Equipment)
We fulfil barely only one of this which is the first (talents) and that's it.
Now keep on comparing Iran with SK, Japan and KSA and CQ with Reinar, Paulo Bento ....

What PP did in preventing beiro to go to Europe (delaying it so much) or abdi recently was totally wrong.

when u come from aftabeh ab kun status,
Cq is not on his level to talk.

Let's be realistic no foreign coach will come to Iran, apart from the following:
1. Football Federation can make peace with Dragan Skocic, tell him that since he was the one who got Team Melli qualify for 2023 AFC Asian Cup, he should be the one to be Head Coach at that tournament.
2. Appoint one of the current foreign coaches in Iran Pro League, although they need to convince those clubs to let those coaches resign:
José Morais (Portugal) current coach of Sepahan
Ricardo Sá Pinto (Portugal) current coach of Esteghlal [no experience coaching national teams]
Edson Tavares (Brazil) current coach of Sanat Naft
3. Bring a foreign coach who used to coach in Iran:
Winfried Schäfer (Germany)
Luka Bonačić (Croatia) [no experience coaching national teams]
4. Find an Iranian coach who is willing to coach. With the current situation do not think that many will accept the job.
Would "The Ian Trio" be the possible answer? Alireza Mansourian-Vahid Hashemian-Markar Aghajanian with one of them be assigned Head Coach and other two assistants.

Finding players is much more important than spending money on coaches. Every one of these great coaches have suffered many losing seasons or tournaments. They only win when they have worthy players. Unfortunately, we do not seem to have any great players in the pipeline so the question of whom should our next coach be is moot. The focus needs to be on finding and encouraging the next generation of great players.
By the way 15 out of 16 teams that made it to the next round are being coached by domestic coaches. Soccer (old or new), (traditional or modern), (bekesh ziresh or tiki taka) is not rocket science. I would rather have a coach who is concentrating on best use of his players as opposed to a coach who thinks the players are pieces in a chess match between the two coaches. Domestic or foreign does not matter to me. I do commend CQ for the closeknit feeling in the team. The us against the world speeches. And he does benefit from not being able to speak Farsi and living in a bubble. This one benefit might tip the scale for a foreign coach. If the players want to keep CQ, he should stay.
