Time and time again we see the same issues. Our players go complain to the referee instead of focusing on the match. If our players didn't dive for a penalty in the 93rd minute and instead finished their golden chances, like Taremi going down after getting touched on the shoulder, we would've equalized.

A coach can't enforce these parts. It's going to take a footballing cultural shift toward discipline, like what we see time and time again with the professionalism of the Japanese on and off the pitch.

I actually commented that with a member here. how come they just don't stay focused instead of circling the referee and blaming when they was so close to make story

        This one I disagree.

Uruguay and Senegal are very strong teams.

Friendlies with Algeria and unofficial friendly with Tunisia were also very valuable.

Nicaragua friendly was really good for less experienced Team Melli players, uncapped players and some returned Team Melli players who were absent from Team Melli for many years.

If match with Canada was not cancelled, that would have been good too.

2.the own Iranian people against Team Melli
          3. Social media hate against the players
          4. Goverment threat against the players
You think we didn't make it cos of the mental stress rather than the team not being good?

My theory is that iranians have an inferiority complex because IR has closed off the country. We even see this in our sports on an international scale; against Asian teams they're super aggressive and confident, but against Western teams they become scared and give too much respect to the other side treating them like gods. Only player I saw with 100% confidence againt US was Ramin, he played like a true soldier until last minute.

once again it boils down to the mentality aspect. this can't even be compared to Japan, SK and others. Iranian players are good at talking in front of a camera, when it comes to the pitch, their inner 3rd grade school girls come out.

You could have just summarised it in one word: IR

We literally showed in each and every game that we CAN pass more than twice against the very same opponents that we were treating as football gods.

All the other excuses also don't explain why CQ lets his starting eleven being lined up by a mentally retarded Qatari apparently.

Also all the excuses don't explain the fact why our only tactic is park the bus for 12 years now, while in the very same matches the players have shown that they can play normal football against the very same opponents.

One argument I can agree on, IR. Because only in Iran CQ would be appointed again to park the bus at the WC and get our asses kicked. No other sane management would've appointed him, and we wouldn't be here today.

Yes and when it happened by miracle we screw it all with a bad pass, a wrong choice a desperate long shot.

Before the wc, people were saying we have a big problem in DM sector, then our wing back, then our clubs were doing bad against crappy qatari clubs in ACL.. And now they are mad because we could do better against better opponents.
We have to accept we were clearly inferior to them.

Exactly. We play big even in the Asian Cup, beating Vietnam, China and Jordan and what not, then get man handled when meeting Japan.

Hopefully no one from IFF, the staff and so forth will say "number 1 team in Asia", they can pack that up...

When I watch the other teams in the current world cup, I get reminded of how much better other teams are in terms of technical quality.

There is this myth that Iranian players are technically good but tactically weak.

Iranian players are technically shit and tactically crap....at least when in comparison to the top 25 teams.

Something as basic as passing the ball...The speed of the ball when top teams make a pass is significantly faster than us, even when not under pressure. Our players don't have the skillset to pass accurately with the ball rolling at faster speeds nor consistently control the ball when receiving a ball that is coming to them quickly.

Our players don't have the skill to consistently place a long pass accurately within range of the receiver.

Watching Brazil play yesterday was again instructive. The next time someone in this forum perpetuates the myth that our players are discriminated against in Europe because they don't have a Brazilian last name, just remember that Iranian players don't have the basic skills that Brazilians have. That is why people pay top money for them.

Why does an occasional Iranian shine in Europe? Because someone else has the skills to place a pass at their feet. Watching Portugal play is a reminder of why only one of our players is successful there, and even why he is successful.

Why do Iranians work the referee? Because we are limited in our technical ability so we try every other tactic to make up for it? (Is that what Klinsmann was saying?)

we work the referee because we have a culture where self-responsibility never exists and it’s always someone else’s fault.

You are right about the inferiority complex. However that is not an IR thing. You can see it in the west too, Iranians are always trying to prove themselves to western people. Either by copying their culture, lifestyle, inter-marriage etc and stressing that "we are not Arabs, we are not Muslim". However when it comes to Arabs, Iranians usually view the Arabs as inferior even though most Arab countries have better governments, more freedom and democracy than Iran, more wealth and higher living standards. It is quite a strange phenomenon and I don't really understand where it comes from.

IR didn't colonize Iran from Mars. We are IR; IR is us.

I guess it has to do with Iran current and recent state and foreign medias linking us to backward terrorists left and right.

If it wasn't like that, Iranian would be more cocky and self confident
