PAG and Hosseini were hardly the problem. Both were actually pretty solid in Wales and US games. Majid saved our ass quite a few times vs US.

Selection mistakes were made at LB/RB for the US game, and in midfield/up front. Starting Sardar when he wasnt ready was dumb, subbing gholizadeh early when he was our best threat all game, not getting midfield combo right (ghoddos should have started there to actually support/connect with taremi).

Its a good thing that we have the great example of KSA beating eventual champions Argentina in the same tournament none the less, when there are people like you who claim there is no way in hell we would have gotten a result against England.

The reason CQ was brought in so late with little time to prepare the team was because he supposedly knew the players and this was basically his team which he had built. Maybe it was a great mistake bringing him back because he contributed very little if any by his return.

He is the best coach we ever had but we do need to move on from him. He can no longer help us progress any further.

One doesn't equate to the other. And for the record, KSA had a better squad, even if not on paper. That game was a miracle for KSA, regardless, and IMO the gap between Argentina and KSA was much smaller than that between England and TM.
Obviously, CQ couldn't "know" the current form of the players (even if he knew their names), so that point is rendered null.

We'll see what happens. Please.. no domestic coaches. For that matter, I hope they take their time to hire someone new. It's not worth rushing another Wilmots in there.

Ganji wasn't yet ready for such a competition after long injury and personally i don't trust Hosseini for crucial games.
Having said that Kanani despite being our best and most skilled D is true idiot.

I agree I wouldn't have changed them either, but if you just look at our performances in the last 2 games, the reason we didn't go through wasnt our CBs. If you look across the field there were much bigger weaknesses (our left side was too slow to deal US right side - Torabi+Jalali> Milad+Taremi. Azmoun not ready for back 2 back starts after he gave whatever he had vs Wales, subbing gholi early, nour making zero impact on either side of the ball, etc)

Of course it does. If Renard had gone in with the mentality that there is no way in hell we are getting a result against Argentina, they would never have won. Also you are dead wrong if you believe the gap between KSA and Argentina is much smaller than Iran and England. In fact I say its greater.

With the right lineup and mentality we could have also performed a miracle against England.

I agree that they need to take their time finding the right coach one that gets the absolute most from our players.
