Wow and here i thought this worthless populistβs luck had run out?! Impressive result, perhaps he won by playing nice football for once? Let me check the stats from the game π
Results matter. Not how you get there. Best coaches in the world like Mourinho understand that. I'll take his football knowledge over some of the posters here, sorry
No one cares if you play the sexiest football ever then lose

Sure i agree.
CQ with Iran:
3 WC Group Stage exits
2 AC failures
5 failures in total

As you said, results matter.
Before CQ weβve always had WC group stage exits, AC failures, and multiple failures in total.
However, with CQ we were able to qualify for back to back World Cups for the first time ever, and had our best WC results ever in 2018.
I think itβs your black & white mentality that prevents you from acknowledging the mark CQ left on our football. You have to remember how limited our footballing infrastructure is, and the expectations should be incremental, and realistic.
The next tangible goals in Iranian football based on progression should be
1) Qualifying to Asian cup final
2) Getting past group stage in the World cup(please note that the expanded world cup will allow Iran this opportunity even if we end up 3rd in our group in some cases. )

The only reason someone can be happy with CQ is that if CQ didnt come it would have been some iranian coach, if we were a normal country we wouldnt have gone for CQ for sure if we could get any coach other nationalteams get.
imagine you can choose btw cq and someone above him , thats an option we dont have and this is the reason many love him......

CQ enjoyed incredible popularity during his appointment. Keeping the majority of the fickle Iranian public happy for that long was no easy feat. How do you explain that?
We have to recognize that we do not have a normal federation nor a normal government. Having someone who not only put up with them but also pushed and cajoled and demanded and most importantly, successfully acquired a number of basic but vital necessities for TM is not something one would expect from a national team manager.
I was happy when CQ was our coach and when he left, I felt that it was time. I felt he was too conservative and our team had reached a point where it could take risks and grab the wins from bigger teams. But we had reached that point thanks to him.
He should never have returned and his second term was short and forgettable.
But he built a foundation of Iranian football which we still enjoy.
Such a weird way to troll... Even the "Wilmots shireh" guy didn't argue against their own logic within 1 post.β
Bah bah, the king of trolls has spoken. Bejoz trolling mage chize digehi ham baladi to?
There is a difference between result in one match, and a tournament in general lol. Argentina lost against Saudi, but won the WC. That is all that matters.
If CQ had gotten us at least an AC and a R16 WC qualification, i would have changed my view against him 100%. But he didnβt, despite getting many more chances than anyone in our history.
This is going downhill.
I think we can all agree that CQ was good for our soccer. But it is also good that he has moved on.
Here's to hoping for an adequate national coach that may further build our programs and attain results.
We need someone young, hungry, and passionate. Someone like a Domenico Tedesco would be great.
Oceano Cruz, the former TM assistant coach, recently made a post on Instagram mentioning praise of CQ's win against Mexico, saying how much planning and attention to detail the man has. He said how it's a testament to his hard work and dedication. Everywhere you go, you hear the same stories of how meticulous and detail-oriented he is, and how his assistants loved working under him. The same was said by Des McAleenan who passed away due to suicide a few years ago and worked with CQ a lot. May he rest in peace.
