Carlos Queiroz may not have been Alex Ferguson, but he was for Iranian football. People forget Iran sucked! We had good players and did good in Asia. But Prior to Carlos Queiroz let me break it down.

1. World Cup- Iran got its first win in 1998. THEIR ONLY WIN FOR 20 years. Prior to CQ and after 98, we made 1/3 world cups (where we only got 1 point against Angola), falling in a group below North Korea. Since CQ arrived we qualified 3/3 and qualification has been relatively easy. The team has won twice and drew twice. We were unlucky not to make it to the second round in 2018 and admittingly underwhelming in 2022 (protests did effect moral). The team has players playing in Europe in top leagues and very competitive teams.

2. Asia, Like I said before Asian WCQ has been easier but since the 2004 Asian Cup Iran best finished has been the 2nd round. In 2015 under CQ the same happened but we can all agree the result was against us due to poor officiating not coaching. In 2019 we made our first Semi finals appearance in 15 years. We probably would have won a medal if they didn't get rid of the 3rd place game.

3. Player development. He brought order and structure to the national team, no more divas, no Rahmati, Karimi, Aghili. Players had to respect the coach no BS antics. I believe the players developed in this structure both at their clubs and in a way to make the national team. He changed many rules in Iran in training demands, player accommodation. He had their back and they had his.

He was the best coach we ever had, but all good things come to an end. Just like Wenger, sometimes you stay too long and become a villain

Key difference being in CQ case, he was a villain from start to finish.

No one can argue against him from a football perspective - he made mistakes but in each tournament we over-performed.

But he didn't understand the people and the situation after Mahsa Amini murder and that cost his reputation in Iran.

They hired CQ for the wrong job. He should have taken over youth national teams and youth development in Iran instead of clinging on to HC post. He was neither bad nor great as a coach. He was good.

He just overstayed on the post and his competency and strengths are much more needed for development of players. In developing players he is unmatched in Iran and even internationally.

He would be a national asset in helping players transition to senior level.

And regarding over emphasizing HC role in TM performances i think it leads to wrong conclusions. We have far greater issues in our football and HC contribution will either way be of marginal importance. No coach will be able to make a broken system and mediocre players become world class. Why are we deluding ourselves?

Why do you care about what others do or what others think and say about us? I really do not care about what others do or what others think and say about us. We should focus just on ourselves. We also should focus on one game at a time and try to win every single game.

I would hardly call the young inexperienced US team a formidable opponent. Sure they managed to tie England, but that game had Farce written all over it. They were unable to hold their lead over Wales, and eventually were put in their place when they faced Holland as we all witnessed.

They were formidable enough in that group-clearly the second best, and the biggest obstacle to Iran's dream of making history.

The biggest obstacle to Iran making history was CQs lame lineup and tactics in the two games we lost. The US team showed how formidable they are when they faced Holland.

I wouldn't blame Queiroz for the loss against England. The players were understandably shaken and distracted because of the crisis in Iran. They also had to contend with having an inexperienced goalkeeper after losing Beiranvand to injury. Furthermore, Queiroz had less than three months to work with the team. It was a difficult situation for everyone.

So how come the players were not shaken and distracted against Wales ?? No I don’t buy that.

So Hell yeah I only blame CQ for that embarrassing loss. His weird lineup had us doomed from the very start.

And he didn’t learn his lesson and screwed up again against the US with all the wrong tactics and lineup.

But Let us not dwell in the past he is gone and we should move on.

"CQ was no Alex Ferguson" well no shit. Alex Ferguson is only Alex Ferguson because he won trophies. You can only be someone's Ferguson if you win trophies and that's the end of it!

Also Iran did not overperform in every championship it played under CQ. You can say it under performed in all the AC's. Saying that in AC 2015 we more or less had the same performance as in 2004, is also BS. In 2004 we were the clear winners, were we not cheated out in the semifinals. In 2015 we lost to Iraq in the QF!! You could blame the ref, but Pooladi pretty much made all that happen.

Still CQ savare branko all day every day.

He was supposed to be a defensive coach and some claim he has done so much for our football?
