This is exactly the problem with us Iranian. That's exactly what media doing, what Ghalenoei still doing in the night when we played excellent football, won a crucial game and advanced to Semifinal. Instead of enjoying, discussing and analysing the game, we go back and discuss CQ. GN in his post match press conf, he once again brings up 2007. Baba bikhial, service kardin. chera vel nemikonin??? Why do we always have need to go back and proof something? That we were right?? Why is there anyone who goes back and say he/she was wrong.

Whoever, CQ was, Whatever he did, good or bad, that's history. Why not just enjoy and look forward for greater moments and results?

Doostan, Affarin to all of you that think/said CQ was bad Coach. Affarin to all of you who think/said GN is good. I myself was a fan of CQ and I had my reasons and nothing will change that but I dont need to proof anything. And by that said, that doesn't mean that I dont like the way we played today with GN. On the contrary, I think this game, particularly the second half was one of the best performance together with the first halv against UAE I have seen from out boys för very long long time, maybe last time was back in 1996 or 2004. And I will be the first one to congrats GN and give him all credit in the world if he manage to win AC or even manage to take the team to the final.

The Islamic conquest, Persia, 1953, Shah, Khomeini, CQ. We have to bring up the past. It's in our DNA.

Why did Qatar get rid of CQ before AC? They would have won it with CQ. Oh wait…

Real Madrid, Portugal (Ronaldo), Colombia, Egypt, and Qatar all saw something in him they did not like, and it took each about a year to see it. I took us a decade and some people are still under his spell.

It's not all about short-term results, he revolutionized the way we do football. He introduced new players, and scouting techniques, organized workshops for internal coaches to develop our football from the ground up, pushed IFF to understand the importance of future-proofing, discarded the "hashieh" and weeded out the bad seeds from TM, and lastly, he created a mentality for our players for unity, professionalism, rigor, and the need to go abroad.

There were many other challenges as well, but you can't blame him when the system and political environment is rigged, he did his best to make it all work out.

You might call it a spell, but it was a miracle that was brought to TM for a decade. GN and other coaches will have a hard time if they decide to go to the old ways of doing things.

Cq would of lost to Japan
skocic would of lost to Japan

Only galenoie football Irani could of beat japan.

Both cq and skocic would of beat qatar.

Honestly I wish we could hire CQ to run our youth system. The man is a genius at scouting, finding talent, and player development.

i think you are proving the spell:

He revolutionized the way we do football because:

                - “he introduced new players.” He was in charge for a decade, hard not to introduce new players.

                - “scouting techniques”. From what i recall, he hardly was much in Iran, much less attending league games. As far as getting dejagah, ghochi and ghoddos, i think even mayelikohan would have gotten them and they all came after it became somewhat clear that they won’t have much role in German, Netherland or sweden senior national teams. Also, remember players like Zandi coming from europe to play for iran way before cq.

                - “organized workshop for internal coaches” Tbh, i did not know about this. So which internal coaches attended these, which coach do you respect? what tangible difference can you point to that these workshops have had?

-“future proofing”. Not sure what this means but i am guessing that whatever it is, it allows us to attribute anything good in our football to cq and anything bad to the current coach.

                - “got rid of hasiyeh”. I agree with you on that. And god knows our team is hashiyeh central. But ghalenoee got rid of noorolahi…. Mayelikohan was always getting rid of hashiyeh creating players… etc. it is necassary but not enough to make a good coach. I still believe Skocic’s biggest pitfall was not getting rid of Taremi after Taremi disrespected him multiple times. Also, cq created a lot of unnecessary hashiyeh himself.

“Players going abroad”. Dayi, Karimi, Bagheri, mahdavikia and countless others had been going abroad long before cq. If anything, it was Jahanbakh’s success after going to division 2 netherland team, based on Mahdavikia’s advise, that made other not so qualified players to go to lower ranked teams in Europe.

I can't believe he still has a thread. But having said that, did anyone see the Beckham documentary on Netflix? CQ had quite a cameo in the last two episodes.
