My fellow blue brother, it makes perfect sense. This is exactly how H2H works.
We had 3 teams with 6p & only 2 going through.

    H2H between the 3 teams:
    Australia-Vietnam 0-1
    Iran-Australia 2-3
    Iran-Vietnam 3-1

    1st place: Iran 3p & 5-4GD
    2nd place: Australia 3p & 3-3GD
    3rd place: Vietnam 3p 2-3 GD

      No. Of course not.

Football does require consisted planning, funding, training and matches to show consistent results, but it does have the occasional blip where a team performs better than expected. That could happen with our TMs.

What I'm saying is I can point out if a match itself wasn't necessarily reflective of the result. I don't expect TM U20 to win this tournament, but I do think they played well enough to at least draw Australia. That's all I'm saying.

I know you want TM to win everything, regardless of the background, so I wasn't questioning that.

As for do people care about football or not, I think ordinary people care still. They want to go to the stadiums (ladies and gentlemen). The only ones who don't like and don't understand football truly to this day are the political nutcases we unfortunately have too many of.
      Nokhodi jaan,

Of course it doesn't mean a regime is good if we win - winning alone does not validate the regime's competence. However, the likelihood of success would significantly increase with a good, Iran-loving government.

But I am just saying we should tamper expectations. The same team hasn't won since 1976, just too long for it to be anything other than systematic. So we have a reason to be pessimistic about our chances. It's super frustrating, especially for us who dedicated resources and time for TM and Iranian football.

We simply don't have the grassroots and infrastructure that most Asian nations have, including Iraq! Who were war-torn but have leapfrogged us to the nth degree when it comes to their stadiums and programs.

I would gladly shut my mouth, for us to win it. I want that. We all know the regime deserves zero credit cause all they have done is hamstrung, stolen and bankrupt the Iranian nation. We know we only win because of the talent and hard work of our boys. I want our boys to be happy. God knows the despair under IR Iran just keeps getting worse.

I respect your match analysis, looking back, Australia was strong and we did well against them and I think it was Ebrahimzadeh who should have tied it for us.

I have a different perspective on the last point. The term "fan" has its origins in the word "fanatic." It's usually sports fans who are extremists lol. I have no problem if an Iranian, because of current climate and environment, doesn't want to focus on sports or support the team. Rooting against them is a whole 'nother story. To think these players have anything to do with the regime is beyond lunacy.
"This is a totalitarian system whose presence people feel in their blood and in their flesh on a daily basis. And it’s one that does not grant freedoms of any kind, or accommodate people’s demands in any way. What is increasingly clear is that there is clear demand for change in the regime. What the people want is regime change, and no return to the past. There is a very real possibility of regime change." - Nasrin Sotoudeh

Remember both Spain & Argentina had a loss in the GS before going on to win the WC, our boys can do the same in AC.

However, the boys are still playing at only 40-45% of what they're are capable of. We need at least 60-65% to comfortably beat Iraq.
The real tournament starts in the semifinals.

Hopefully our boys can keep their composure throughout this tournament and play better with each game.

Our boys are good enough to win this tournament.

Thanks Blue Bro. I just thought 2H2 is the Win Loss column and then if its all even, they look at goal difference for the whole group result. I appreciate the clarification.
