This is what you get from a vatani coach. Hoof the ball as game-plan. Zero tactics. They blamed CQ for having a cautious approach, This coach sent these kids out scared.
I hope Team Meli doesn't get a vatani coach.
There were some talents out there but in terms of ball control and use of space, these kids have some way to go.
The only impressive players this tournament were Hazbavi, Ghorbani and Hosseinnejad (who was a sub this tournament).
"This is a totalitarian system whose presence people feel in their blood and in their flesh on a daily basis. And it’s one that does not grant freedoms of any kind, or accommodate people’s demands in any way. What is increasingly clear is that there is clear demand for change in the regime. What the people want is regime change, and no return to the past. There is a very real possibility of regime change." - Nasrin Sotoudeh
they need to be educated and learn from these sorts of games.
Samad’s strategy (or lack of) was abysmal this game though.
They won't be educated in the Islamic Republic. Also, playing in the PGPL will not help them much. I hope one of them at least finds a way out of Iran to Europe.
There just wasn't enough talent on this team either. We didn't really have a striker either and with no gameplan, we couldn't score goals either. Our biggest offensive threat was our centreback (Amin Hazbavi)!

We did outclass our opponents in GS, who were all better than Iraq really.
Our problem are not the players, it’s the way we approach do or die games.
Marfavi didn’t have the balls to continue working on the offensive approach from GS, and instead sent them out not to lose.
Agar deghat kardid dar in baazi khate miyooneye Iran engar yek sooraakhe bozorgi bood.
ASLAN hich toopi az markaze zamin be sooye balaaye zamin nemiraft.
Yani HICH BAAZISAAZI dar kaar nabood.
Samad agha omad, Sama agha riid, va Samad agha raft.
Va in teame Eraagh masalan che gooh mikhad bokhore dar jaame jahani ke beheshoon bakhtim,
va in amalkarde teamemoon raa badtar mikone.
I noticed that too. As soon as we had the ball in midfield our players would just play it back to our defence, instead of trying to start an attack. It was the complete opposite of our GS approach.
Truly their worst performance and embarassing. Did not play football for 97 mins…looked nothing like the team from previous matches.
samad switched to 5-3-2, team looked totally lost and spaces between lines were all wrong. Result was cbs just hacking it long instead of any of the at times quite impressive build up play that we saw in all of the past 3 games.
and for what? It was clear the team was weak defensively down the sides but to stop all of the good elements of their game in fear of an Iraqi side that narrowly beat Indonesia, tied to Syria, and lost to Uzbekistan despite having a man advantage for an hour was inexplicable.
another example of the famed Iranian coach. Does well initially, some buzz, then when it matters shits the bed in such a drastic way nobody can understand what happened
