the instructions were given to lose this game because Israel under 20 has qualified and we do not want to be participate or be grouped with them in the same group
If that's the case And if marfavi keeps his job,
what u saying might be right.
They won't fire a coach which was instructed to lose

As long as Islamic republic is in power, Iranian football will continue to fail. I have zero expectations for the 2023 Asian Cup.

At least Japan did the job before in qualifying for u20 wc.
We could have lost 20/0 against Afghanistan after qualifying for the u20, it would have been ok for me.

                    Japan lost in penalties.

what matters most in these tournaments is not necessarily winning but rather seeing what players have chance of helping the national team in future years.

Mashallah Iraq. They have installed winners mentality into these boys. While we are still loser mentality.

We only say this cause we haven't won since 1976. Who are we kidding, we would all love to win this.

Fact is, winning this kind of tournament gets the boys use to being winners and goes a long way in their confidence and mentality.

Either way, winning a tournament under IR Iran (whether U17, U20, U23, senior team) is a big pipe dream. We go through this every tournament, with many on here (too young and not heartbroken enough by IR Iran) "guaranteeing we will win" (but we never do!). 📠

100%. That same loser mentality means we will crash out in the Quarter Finals of the Asian Cup with Amir Ghaleneoi - who couldn't even get a job outside Iran or with a top 125 National Team (yet, because he's Iranian, he gets to coach a top 20 national team).

Some here will get excited once we beat minnows in the group stage and say we are destined to win the Asian Cup.

I think you’re old enough to know the history of this tournament and what some teams do to win, so I don’t put much stock in the results, especially at an Asian level.
look at some of the past winners of this tournament- did it result in anything for them?

Even a team like Japan f***s up once in a while, but overall they’re on the right path.

that’s where we need to be. Not to belittle the players and go in with a we’re doomed mentality.

I know what you're saying, but the issue is: the players and coaches do not go into these tournaments wanting to lose. If they did, and it was all about trying different and useful tactics, players etc. (like some Korean and Japanese teams do when they send a real young squad to youth tournaments) then fine. But w don't do that.

We always try to come to these tournaments and try to win. And we don't win at the youth level nor win at the senior level either. So everything evolves correctly and the path of not winning trophies is maintained. 🤷

I think some people just don't want to admit that Iraq's youth is currently much better than ours. And yes, I know about Iraq's use of overage players, and I was the one who would highlight it here all the time. But they have changed and use properly aged players now. Plus, they have ridiculous stock of European youth players that they are not even using for this tournament.

I won't lie to myself to make myself feel better. IR Iran's teams are in the gutter and this will only be exacerbated by the "Iranian Sir Alex Ferguson" Amir Ghalneoi. We have wasted the Mehdi Taremi and Sardar Azmoun generation.
