Asian cup U-20 2023

Important thing is they won, previous u23s, u20s, u19s in group stages lost or failed to win first games and could never recover.
First half they played better second half, especially at the end lost all composure.
Physically they played at high intensity until about minute 75, overpowered and outpressed the qataris. The 2 DM and CB were very solid in their jobs. The front 4 struggled at times with decision making and finishing.
Best players were probably Hazbavi (who for his age reads the game brilliantly), the Left Back Seifi who overlapped until minute 100, should have picked up an assist and was very assured defensively, and Ghorbani who is clearly a big talent on the LW.
Lets hope they improve as tournament goes on.

u17 that got out of group with Argentina, Austria, and Canada at WC had Ezatolahi, Majid, Moharrami, and Gholizadeh that became TM regulars. Nobody else came close (Iman Salimi had ok spell at Tractor for couple years).
u20 that made it to WC recently, beating costa rica and narrowly losing vs zambia and portugal had zero regulars so far. Noorafkan, Gholami, Ghayedi, and Aghasi are the closest, and at least have a few caps. Shekari the star player of the generation despite now establishing himself in PGPL didn't succeed as legionnaire and so far hasnt made TM.
2015 u23 was the best in terms of final result in TM (although as a group they didn't achieve anything, losing to Qatar and Japan, and getting KO'd in group). Kanani, Cheshmi, Ali Karimi, Nourollahi, Milad Mohammadi, Jahanbakhsh, Azmoun, Torabi and Majid all made it as TM regulars. However for final u23 asian cup they were without all euro based players (Azmoun, ARJ, Ezatolahi at the time), Majid didnt make the cut, and likes of Mehrdad Mohammadi, Ehsan Pahlevan, Daneshgar, couldnt fill the void, thus we failed to make olympics.
u17 of Chamanian that made it to QF in India had Allahyar and Hosseinzadeh make it to TM. Taha shariati and Younes Delfi had TM potential but injuries killed them early on. The rest were always longshots, but as a team they worked well and got excellent results.
From this u20 we have limited look at them in senior level football, so it is hard to gauge. Hazbavi seems to be the one with standout TM potential, verging on certainty. Kor is close behind him, also highly rated by mahdavikia in his stint as u23 coach. The left back seifi (Nassaji) performed very well today and has all the tools to make it in this position that we have chronic issues. Yadegar is this age group's biggest star and already in europe, and now has been promoted to Pogon senior side. The CF Doustali is close behind him, now scoring regularly for their second team. Both could not join the team for this tournament, both would start. From their KIA team Ghorbani, Eslamtalab (both have trialled in germany), and the GK Zarei are highly rated.

We looked nervous last 20 min. Almost conceded at the end.
Real score should have been 3-1 or 4-1.
If we can convert our chances we will win this.

"This is a totalitarian system whose presence people feel in their blood and in their flesh on a daily basis. And itโs one that does not grant freedoms of any kind, or accommodate peopleโs demands in any way. What is increasingly clear is that there is clear demand for change in the regime. What the people want is regime change, and no return to the past. There is a very real possibility of regime change." - Nasrin Sotoudeh

Yes it matters but we have had far more talented teams fail.
The 2000 team had players like Mahdavikia, Ali Karimi, Yazdani, Kavianpour, Khatibi, Nekounam... with a former Bundesliga coach and they f***ed up badly and couldn't even get past the first round of Olympic qualifiers against Lebanon and Bahrain.
The 1992 team had guys like Shahrouid, Gomohammadi, Rezaimanesh, Manafi, Azizi, Hossein Khatibi, and they were very unlucky against UAE and missed out on 92.
Same goes for the 96 and 2004 teams which were also damn good but failed for various reasons.
This latest version of the Olympic team is our weakest yet, but maybe its better this way.
