if Iran pushed could of got both of them
For this tournament.
Unless rules have changed

Of course it doesn't mean a regime is good if we win - winning alone does not validate the regime's competence. However, the likelihood of success would significantly increase with a good, Iran-loving government.
But I am just saying we should tamper expectations. The same team hasn't won since 1976, just too long for it to be anything other than systematic. So we have a reason to be pessimistic about our chances. It's super frustrating, especially for us who dedicated resources and time for TM and Iranian football.
We simply don't have the grassroots and infrastructure that most Asian nations have, including Iraq! Who were war-torn but have leapfrogged us to the nth degree when it comes to their stadiums and programs.
I would gladly shut my mouth, for us to win it. I want that. We all know the regime deserves zero credit cause all they have done is hamstrung, stolen and bankrupt the Iranian nation. We know we only win because of the talent and hard work of our boys. I want our boys to be happy. God knows the despair under IR Iran just keeps getting worse.
I respect your match analysis, looking back, Australia was strong and we did well against them and I think it was Ebrahimzadeh who should have tied it for us.
I have a different perspective on the last point. The term "fan" has its origins in the word "fanatic." It's usually sports fans who are extremists lol. I have no problem if an Iranian, because of current climate and environment, doesn't want to focus on sports or support the team. Rooting against them is a whole 'nother story. To think these players have anything to do with the regime is beyond lunacy.
As you mentioned, my point was simply we weren't that bad against Australia, and that football does have occasional outlier where a team does well despite lack of solid infrastructure, planning...
Your love and passion for TM was not in question. Neither do you need to shut your mouth! This is a forum and we're all discussing TM and all TMs that we love.
Let's hope TM does well, even if the odds aren't with us usually.
