Circling back to this. Iranian gheyrat can keep up with any amount of ludicrous spending from the Saudis

This is a terrible take brother and belongs in the 1980s. Football is all about investments, planning and grassroots.

Saudis have been largely owning Iranian clubs in the last few years and Saudi clubs have won 2 ACL titles in the last 4 years.

The last time Iranian won an ACL was in 1992 ...

We need proper investment and planning in our football, especially grassroots - and not support terrorists in foreign countries like Palestine, Syria, and Lebanon.

Al Hilal did not play a better game than foolad….they just had more luck on their side. Foolad players should be proud of their performance aside from that useless sob who sucked (pretty sure it’s the guy nokhodi mentioned) when he came on and basically helped Al Hilal.

interested to see how they do in the Iranian league going forward now and to see who will take over for them as head coach.

Forgot that Younes Delfi is on Foolad.

He went from one of our most promising prospects to not mentioned at all.

                Bad agent
                bad transfers

NOT ALL PLAYERS SUBJECT TO TRANSFER.

                ...
                what else nekunam wanted?
This was a very deep foolad team
With a lot of talented players

Luck may be on Hilal side but as we know from TM the team with the possession pendulum clearly swung in its favour is typically the luckier side 😉 Hilal had far more possession and thus was rewarded. Foolad players at times were on the desperate backfoot with amazing last gap sliders and headers on defence.

So what do we disagree on? I agree that we are behind, but this game showed that we are not miles behind given the massive differences in government support. We still go toe to toe with these teams. A not-wealthy, mid-table Foolad side with a coach that resigned the day before was close to beating Al Hilal, the mighty Saudi team with the highest net worth in Asia. That's remarkable. It's not a small feat

I didn't say we shouldn't invest... with the proper investments, we could do the same, if not better

Al Hilal is the only Saudi team that has had serious success with winning. No others have won trophies in recent history. PP and Zob Ahan have been in the finals three times combined since 2010

lol haji that’s not a can of worms you want to open up…..there is 100x the amount of evidence to show dominating possession means nothing than there is playing defensively doesn’t get results. It’s not even close

Foolad clearly showed us all that PGL is getting better and better for each year.
The 9th placed team in our league gave AL-Hilal hell.

I dont know. In one hand sepahan beat zenit, foolad have alhilal hell, TM toying with wales. But in other hand we got destroyed by england..
The few good results can also be explained by the fact that iranians can raise suddenly their level against stronger opponents but only one shot mode

Iran-England was a 1 in a 1000 result ( although CQ totally fucked up our chances with that lineup).

                            Foolad-Al Hilal, Iran-Wales, Sepahan-Zenit was not.

                            You can’t compare them.

in this case, we can add Iran/US, Korea/Iran, Iran/Japan, Iran/Bosnia.
