Defensive approach has cost us multiple times in AC.
    Here are some examples:
    1996 SF vs Saudi
2004 SF vs China (We played scared football even before Zareh red card)
    2007 QF vs Korea
    2011 QF vs Korea
    2019 SF vs Japan

Enough is enough. It takes balls to win AC, and we need to attack non-stop during the whole tournament.
Our players will be gassed by the 60 minutes mark.

Iranian players lack the conditioning compared to Aussies, Japanese, Koreans.

Plus even in the PGPL, you don't really see any teams playing high tempo attacking football. It's not a part of our footballing DNA.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want Iran to play defensively, I just don't think we have the squad to play an aggressive attacking game.

We are in an easy group! We will be first and win all our group matches. I hope we can bring in Carlos Queiroz for the upcoming Asian Cup!
He did great job with Iran, even at the World Cup 2014, 2018 and 2022!

I think Korea will beat us again in the QF and we'll be on our way out. Australia, Saudi are very beatable but Korea and Japan are just way better than us right now in almost every aspect.

I just don't want the nightmare of Klinnsman gloating over us

We beat ourselves against SK/Japan. Our psychological preparation needs to be superior to that of the SK/Japan players. Unfortunately, I don't see this happening under the General. However, if our senior/experienced legionnaire players (ie Taremi/Azmoun/ARJ) can instill this in the rest of TM during the Asian Cup camp and the group stage, then we have a shot. GO TM!

Historically we have great record against korea, even with Sko we tied in Azadi, ok lost away but that was without a RB and Taremi, played the disaster known as noorafkan at CDM, and even then it was a bizarre abedzadeh mistake that cost us the game.

I think on psychological front we match up against them quite well. Quality wise I do not see them as anywhere near japan, just look at some of their results in WCQ, somehow still finished behind us in qualifying.

I think the Korea game would be quite tight, if we have our guys in top form/fitness and solve some of the issues at CM we can do it. Klinsmann being as much of an idiot as GN helps a lot.

Japan is different story. Head and shoulders above anybody else in asia. I personally do not see big differences between Aussie, Iran, SK, and Saudi. All have their own strengths and weaknesses. Aussie have probably most limited talent atm, but make up for it in structure, discipline and coming off huge WC performances. Saudi are explosive on their best night and renard fixed a lot of their defensive issues, but still they are inconsistent as seen in WC, they lack high quality personnel also and renard is gone. SK have 2-3 star players (kind of like TM), but lack of new blood overall and an idiot coach. On a given night I think any of these teams can beat each other, besides Japan, who are the obvious favorite (although not unbeatable, as seen in WCQ and even against costa rica in WC.)

Our AC will come down to our stars and a good prep program. If the core gets tested vs some decent opposition and remains in shape and in form, we have a fighting chance to make semi final, and from there given favorable matchup with Qat/Uzb the final itself is possible. IMO, the quicker we eliminate guys like Moghanlou, Asadi, sohrabian etc from the rotation the better. Stick with the spine that CQ developed, add in a younger more athletic CM, CB and integrate Allahyar + Hosseinzadeh.

            -----------------------Beiro--------------

            Moha/Ramin---Hazbavi/Fallah---Majid----Hajsafi

            -------------Ezatolahi/A.Karimi----------
            -----new CM--------------Ghoddos/Hosseinzadeh

            Allahyar/ARJ--------Azmoun-------Taremi

I like to see Hossein Pour Hamidi in the goal at the Asian cup.

Thatโ€™s why the General needs to work on our players fitness level before AC, especially the local players.

We also have so many attacking options that we can just substitute the tired attacking players if needed. Key is the upfront 4 players (especially wingers) press non-stop during 90 min.

Sepahan & Persepolis both play high tempo games, while Esteghlal plays a more controlled and calculated game.

I disagree with you. With players like Sayyad, Mohebbi, Taremi, Rezaeian etc we can play an agressive game.

IMO a team must always play in a way that utilizes itโ€™s strenghts. We have many great attacking players and we must make use of it.

If we focus our gameplan around our โ€amatureโ€ defenders and midfield, weโ€™re just asking to be punished.

Korea is overrated. Donโ€™t let their fluke R16 WC-qualification trick you. I canโ€™t wait to play them in AC.

i remember when noorafkan was a mediocre left winger/back in his younger days, everybody was praising him and wanted him in tm. now he is bossing the midfield in a top 10 league in the world and people dont respect him...and i still dont understand why some people constantly brings up hazbavi in tm discussions, he is simply not good enough. we have much more experienced and capable defenders who hast been tested yet, like Daneshgar, Gholami or Faraji.

We definetly have the team to go all the way, we just need to start appreciating our homebased players and stop worshipping overrated players like Majid Hosseini and Ezatolahi..they dont necessarily deserve to start just because they play in european leagues..

That first paragraph is so confusing - are you mixing up bits of Noorafkan and Hajsafi's careers?

A good mixture of PGL-stars + euro legionares will win us the cup. Our league is way better than some think.

When midtable teams like Foolad give Al-Hilal hell, no other explanation is needed to describe how good it is.

Professionalism and planning in our league = 0
Infrastructure in our league = 0

Still the gameplay is evolving each year. Amazing really lol.

Thatโ€˜s because Iranian people in general are very sporty and we have great euro based players as well, always had and always will. Our league is getting better and better too every year. The asian cup is ours to grab ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ
