But again seems like physically they gassed out? This remains one of the biggest issues that plagues us on all levels... These guys are quite developed physically and from that sense abdi probably was relying on that vs smaller japanese, but in football such a calculation goes to shit if you cant bust your ass for 90 mins.

yes, they are a talented group w/ capable head coach. The reality is that japan is the cream of the crop right now in asia, rapidly closing gap and even overtaking many traditional euro powerhouses, and its not even just football (see volleyball).

I think our youth sides are actually improving also, but obviously not at the same rate.

At some stage I think we need to have a serious think about how to leverage our 1 "barg e barande" so to speak when we come up against the japanese at all age levels, that is the physical issue. They are superior in most other aspects, but imo their one failing will always be physical shortcomings and weak defense. We are physically an imposing team with generally strong attacking players but cannot exploit that vs the japanese bc of conditioning/stamina issue

Even looking at our legionairres and NT right now, there is 1 player who is a true, undoubted success, and thats Taremi. And look at how much the guy runs and how physically scary he is. Even in shitty CAFA he is the only player with 3x90 mins!

I think you guys are being way too harsh.

There's definitely potential there. I don't think this team will make far in the world cup, but they also won't get embarrassed. Probably finishing third in their group.

Also one bad match in shitty conditions doesn't define the team.

Give them some time (and conditioning training) and these boy will do well.

Nima, Sadeghi, Gholizadeh and Taheri all have potential. Hopefully they are nurtured properly in their club football.

I think the main glaring weakness in this age are the CBs.

What exactly did you see from Taheri? He missed sitter after sitter. He is a striker who cannot score.

I saw some great moments from him in the korea game. He misses chances for sure, and we need to see more of him to evaluate if that was just a couple poor games/confidence issue or he is generally a bad finisher. I doubt he has made it this far if the latter. But in terms of speed, physique, touch and combo play he was actually quite promising.

Andarz, Gholizadeh, Razzagh, Mahan, GK and Ghandipour all have high ceilings.

Hahaha I had the pain too + unibrow . But Bro his beard looks so full. Normally a 16-17 iranian boy has facial hair but not this much. I dono what they feed him but bro looks 25 to me. I know lots of iranian who are 30 and still can't get a facial hair like that.
