In before, "I guarantee we will win this" (then we proceed to get bounced out in group stages or QFs).
"This is a totalitarian system whose presence people feel in their blood and in their flesh on a daily basis. And it’s one that does not grant freedoms of any kind, or accommodate people’s demands in any way. What is increasingly clear is that there is clear demand for change in the regime. What the people want is regime change, and no return to the past. There is a very real possibility of regime change." - Nasrin Sotoudeh
Looks like the prophet of doom found this thread before me 😁
The group looks difficult, but QF should be easier.
Haven’t seen this team play tbh. Will be very interesting to see where they stand.
We want the same thing - Iran's success. But what plans, infrastructure and programs have been created and built that is different than yesteryears that will help Iran succeed (at all age levels?). Talent is not enough, this is the world's most popular sport. All countries invest and plan and have program, except us.
We have 44 years of evidence for failure in our football. What's different about this time?

Abdi is very capable of taking this team to the world cup. He is very under rated coach. He was very close to become a pp hc but management got change over a decade a go and went with another coach. The draw is difficult but is doable with this team...

Dooste gerami, i have never doubted you wanting Iran’s success.
But you do come across as overly negative IMO. Just as you believe i’m overly positive.
I followed that U20-team from qualifiers to AC and i really believe they were good enough to win the tournament.
However i never thought Marfavi would suddenly play defensive in QF (vs the worst team we faced) after we had played great attacking football in GS.
I haven’t seen this U17 team yet so i’ll wait until the GS is over before providing an assessment.
Regarding the infrastructure etc you’re absolutely correct, can’t argue with that.
My opinion however is that our talent alone is enough to win AC. We just fail to bring out our best football when it matters. We need to work on our mentality and be more daring in do or die games.
If we had the right infrastructure etc, we would be as good as Germany.
We have same problems u17 then u 19
most 2 important no good grass fields and no real scouting.
Kids that have rich parents now make our youth teams instead of real talent.
All that said
U17 HAS ALOT BETTER CHANCE TO MAKE THE WC Then u20 did.
We been to the wc 4 times .
Out of 4 times ,3 times we advance from our group. 2 times we lost r16 and 1 time 2017 we made it to qf of wc.
our u 17 has way more chance of going to the wc then u 20 did. Hossein Abdi is decent coach.
