The Uzbeks are in good shape, it can end up becoming a game with lots of goals. It will be a good test game for us for sure.
im worried about our 3man backline and even kiri goalie situation .... but still figure 70-80% chance we will beat them as well..!! probably with much tighter margin though..... like 2-1 or 3-2 something ..?
it all depends on GN not totally screwing up his starting line up. .!
i'd rather if he yank that Assadi kid back to CM/CAM area... his finishing, positioning in and around the box and generally scoring naws seem pretty hopeless to me...! he can't even get his melon to any high balls in the box regardless of his good size n heights ..! but he has good energy and does well in the intangibles/hustle-factor areas which often goes unnoticed and unappreciated but it sure does rush the opponent into errand passes and such...!
he plays a better CDM/CM than CF to me ...!! regardless, Much ... Much prefer Shahab to him in his current more attacking/ supporting attack role..!!
our overall performance was better than the lifeless afgan game ...!! but for vast majority of game still too slow pokish in passing and general movement of the ball.... after PoolAliGaji rid royally and we conceded that tokhy goal and swapped a few players yanking the error prone and struggling ARJ and intro of Mohebi and later Shahab i thought we looked pretty good after that making some decent quick 1 touch passes and swift counters that result in good goals... Sardar looked sharp and lively, finally scored a couple of goals which was a plus too..!!
Bey was a disaster .... this guy seems to me too arrogant for his own good on and off the pitch ...! tries to play the calm, joe cool with the ball at his feet in box but you can tell he is this close to give up a sooti goal !!
Majid hossaini still too sluggish with the ball at his feet .... khyeyli fes o fes mikoneh before making a simple tap pass or deciding what else to do with the ball...!! PAG needs to be phased outa TM already... had massive potential to become a solid CB but he chased money instead of progress and improvement and as such his form and general defensive sense has declined too... the performances of aging HajSafi and other make shift LCBacks of GN also dont inspire too much confidence ..... when on attack we often leave acres of space to exploit in our half of the pitch, especially with the repeated ARJ's sloppy, careless passing antics in MF areas...!! a formidable and Fast countering opponent can easily punish us badly ..!
we look awful susceptible to conceding since GN took over ... and we pretty much just have to rely on out-scoring the better opponents that we face ..!?
looking forward to the Uzbek test match ... when is game time for US viewers on Tuesday..?
I think this Uzbekistan team will be GN's first real test since taking over. Uzbekistan is hosting, has the home crowd, and will go all out.
If we lose, or barely squeak by, it will indicate our team is not in good shape. I really hope we get some formidable opponents for friendlies before the Asian Cup next year.
Levnikov will officiate the final match of the CAFA Nations Cup tournament between the national teams of Uzbekistan and Iran
The Russian team of referees, headed by Kirill Levnikov , has been appointed to the final match of the CAFA Nations Cup‑2023 tournament between the national teams of Uzbekistan and Iran, the press service of the Football Association of Uzbekistan reports.
The meeting will be held on June 20 in Tashkent and will begin at 18:30 Moscow time. Levnikov will be assisted by assistants Andrei Vereteshkin and Yegor Bolkhovitin.
It seems that Srečko Katanec Head Coach of Uzbekistan who missed the match versus Tajikistan, might be absent versus Team Melli as well and the team might be coached by Vlado Radmanović. Apparently Katanec has not been feeling well. I do not know the details.
Also it seems that Vahid Amiri will most likely start as captain of the national team. Hajisafi will probably be on the bench.
Sardar Azmoon has missed a training due to minor injury, still not sure whether he will take part in the final or not. I guess Zahedi might start this match.
I guess Uzbekistan players will all be there, no news about any injuries for them.
