With such a pathetically expanded tournament mere qualification should not even be a matter of debate. Hopefully we will finally be able to replicate our highest placing of being among the final 16 at the World Cup.

You already said it...a total of 8 direct slots in the final tournament are available for AFC teams, as well as 1 inter-confederation play-off slot. Qualifying doesn't mean much anymore with this large tournament.
