Senegal, who were beaten by England in the Round of 16 at the most recent edition, are in Group B and will tackle Congo DR, Mauritania, Togo, Sudan and South Sudan.

Group C features both Nigeria and 2010 World Cup hosts South Africa, along with Benin, Zimbabwe, Rwanda and Lesotho.

Qualifications for caf was so hard when 5 teams made it another 5 teams same level didn't.

It will be watered down in some regions(the 6-7-8 choice in AFC, the 4-5-6 in CONCACAF, Oceania team) but Africa definitely benefit because they have at least 8-10 teams that can compete at the World cup.

Let's say iran, ksa Japan s.k Australia go for sure.

in concacaf, us mexico canada should be sure in
then Panama Costa Rica and jamica are other 3
New Zealand from Oceania they can hang in.

So yes from 48 teams
6 teams have no business being there.

I still love 48 teams all the extra games

Agreed. Ever since their quota was raised to 5 they have only twice been able to get more than 1 team out of the group and in one instance all 5 teams were eliminated in group play.

I'll say at the top of each confederation we have been doing better recently esp considering Japan and South Korean consistency,( and our win vs Morocco).

I just think with the new changes in the World cup format it may reflect more kindly to Africa, would be happy to be proven wrong. The drop in level from best African team Morocco to 9th best Ivory coast is a lot less than 1st place Japan to 9th best Oman.

that's a hard group. playing in vietnam, indonesia, phillipines, thailand, and malaysia these days is extremely difficult because of the environment. humidity and very hostile opposing crowd. southeast asia actually has the most passionate football fans in asia as a whole, with the exception of iran
