Even if Esteghlal imported 11 Arabs to grassroll for 90 minutes some of the decision making is so poor in the final third especially when trying to break in on goal.

Both teams honestly... whenever their midfielders get the ball they love to chip within 5 yards to someone else keep the ball in the air and go for useless shoulder-shoulder tackles than keep it on the group and do quick linkup and overloads on the wings. Esteghlal just played antifootball and try to hound the ref at everyturn which is something Quieroz and his team got criticism for(by Klinsmann too) yet it seems like its not an issue unless someone's personal team benefits from it

Where did i mention Esteghlal played good today? We played like shit, but Perspolis was worse.
I’m just happy there was VAR today so they couldn’t gift the 3p to Perspolis like they usually try to do.

Esteghlal has some truly weak players. Like I know I dunk on Persepolis, but god damn, most SS starters would be bench players in PP.

Nekunam should be applauded for managing to top the league with the likes of Mohammadi.

It was a bad match all around, but Esteghlal got lucky at the end.

As for var, it's was good. Only issue was that sometimes it took way too long for the ref to go review the call.

To my understanding, in EPL/La Liga the main ref only reviews a play if the VAR refereee disagrees with the onfield call/obvious error/defers to the ref for a decision. If that's the rule in Iran as waell then there was a total disconnect of decisionmaking between the two.

Lol the only thing i’m happy about is that the game was played with VAR. Imagine If VAR had been included in 2018 or 2019, PP would be in the bottom half of azadegan by now.
