Vaghean damesh garm bekhaatere amalkardesh roberooye Japon.
Amma ba yek gol bahar nemishe. In ravand bayad edameh bede ta be jaayi berese.
right on ...!! amma baa doe goal maa barandeh shodim..!!
there is definitely a Player in there... he just have to improve his decision making and poise in the final 3rd of the pitch and smoothen his finishing touches a bit..!!
hopefully today's brilliant performance against Japan gives him the Self Confidence required to finally begin to fully live up to his massive potential..!! 🙏
He needs it bludgeoned into his head that he should complete all his actions in less than 3 touches.
This guy needs to realize his strengths and his weaknesses and play to them and he can make it at good level in EU and contribute to TM for years.
He is very fast, very physical, excellent in the air, and has great stamina/tracks back. He gets into big trouble when he complicates his game.
As a winger, he needs a repertoire of 3-4 things to do every time he gets the ball. If he just rotates between these things and THINKS less on the ball he will be much more effective. His decision making sucks and when he is trying to dribble and figure out what to do simulanteously his brain overloads and he screws up.
Option 1, look for adjacent CM, LB, or CF with a a simple touch and pass to maintain possession. He doesnt need to size up his guy every time for take on.
Option 2, if he wants to take the full back, fine, he has speed/physical advantage over many so in transition he can push it down the line and carry, look for simple cut back/cross or penetrate into pk box. This can also be accomplished with simple 1-2 and moving without the ball into the space behind the full back. This is where he was so dangerous today on a few occasions.
Option 3, without the ball, make the classic out-to-in run that got him his goal today. Mehdi perfected this run a long time ago and in general (for club and country) can serve mohebbi excellently as well because of his speed and nose for goal (when confident). For TM, sardar, ghoddos, mehdi can all pick him out if he does this.
eventually he can add a 4th option, cutting in and shooting from that side but needs to be way more efficient with his touches when he dribbles laterally.
I really hope Karpin at Rostov can continue working on these points with him. Its important that he also sees the player he could become. But he needs to work a lot ! and under no circumstance return to PGPL. The reason at 25 he is still playing with such bad decision making like he is 21 is because of lack of development during his time in iran!
Eventhough he played excellent in the second half but I still think he needs to improve. He really needs to use his head/brain when he plays. The guy has all the conditions to succeed. He has his head down, doesn't look around when he has the ball. He needs to learn that passing the ball is part of the game. And by passing, that doesnt mean that you pass the ball only when you are desperat without any other options (that's why he has so many error passes) but that means you need to have a good vision of the game, try to understand that during the game, there are moments when other teammates might have better position than yourself.
I never understood the hate he got here - he has always had elements of his game he needs to work on, but his work-rate, hustle and just awkwardness to defend against (like his hamshahri) have always been clear to me, ever since Wiltits brought him into the team.
It's safe to say that all three of the Bushehr boys in attack have had their critics over the years but they all have unique traits and talents. Now hardly anyone criticises Taremi whereas it wasnt the same a few years ago.
He is a great Wide Target Man. Playing out wide means you are covered by Fullbacks who are generally smaller defenders than centre-backs. He can use his height and leaping advantages to redirect high balls back into the box which creates great opportunity just like the penalty that Japan conceded. We have to keep using him as a Wide Target Man. That is the best role for him.

Thank you for pointing out the bolded part! For me, this is a huge issue concerning his play despite his excellent game versus Japan. Physically, he has all the tools. Technically? I am not convinced he is as good on the ball as people here seem to think. Regardless, he constantly dribbles with his head down and therefore misses too many triangle passes off of his teammates that could lead to through-balls. Instead, he dribbles into trouble and loses the ball, or just ends up passing (harmlessly) backwards. Of course, keeping possession is good, but missed opportunities are not.
You have to give credit to Mohebi for his efforts in the game with Japan. He did everything! ..scored a brilliant goal, could have scored more. He probably ran more than anybody in the team. Covered defensive work and saved Milad a number of times.
That said, overall he does have shortcomings that perhaps are not desirable for a player at national team level and that is no secret and most of us have witnessed it.
