Kaveh Rezaei was outstanding at three age groups U17, U20 and U23

I can't think of any player who has had a similar performance in the youth setups like this

definitely, look at ARJ, he is not very talented at all but his mental fortitude is strong and he keeps it professional

Before his injuries, AS was one of the most exciting Iranian prospects I've seen. He had a unique combination of speed and strength that we vary rarely (if ever) have seen in Iranian football. Perhaps his style wasn't sustainable long term, and the injuries (and perhaps his post-injury mentality) has slowed him down a bit, which is understandable.

He is still very young (only 22 years old), so it's too early to write him off. But he needs a fresh start in a league/team where he can regularly play to get his feet back under him, along with his confidence.

The problem with AS is that for his age group he could get away with being overly physical in U17 because everyone else was weaker. But now that he's playing with adults he keeps getting injured using the same physicality. I think he's only 22 but been injured what like 5 times already? He's completely lean and shredded so being fit is not the problem as far as I know.

His biggest obstacle is learning when to use his physicality and kick it in and when to rest instead of going 100% in every encounter

Speed and strength yes, but I never thought he had much of a footballing brain/tactician nous compared to some of his peers in that U17 team. I don't think just being strong and fast is enough in this era.

True that we can't write him off and I'm confident he will still develop

Can say from some stuff I know behind the scenes his mentality is the biggest issue (although I agree regarding his tactical/technical limitations, dominance at youth level not translating the same way at senior level). Even with that being said there are still plenty of tactically/technically lacking players that make it at top level with similar combo to what allahyar has.

issue is on mental side. Don’t let him being ripped fool you, there are professionalism and determination issues there that until he solves will derail his development.

are you referring to work ethic? showing up to training on time? dealing with lack of playing time? what do you mean by mentality?

I don't know any details but I can assume it's a tale as old as time:

Iranian player is put on pedestal at a very young age because of good performance in youth tournaments, the hype gets to their head and they stop giving 100% or prioritising football.

They can get away with this in farmer leagues like Russia, Turkey or Ukraine, but once they move to western Europe with proper managers and a lot of hungry competition, they fall behind. They don't realise how fragile their situation is because in Iran they are still hyped.

Their club starts brining in even more competition, and. in some cases instead of lighting a fire under the player, it causes them to check out mentally and give even less.

They eventually end up back in a some farmer league or the Persian Gulf, a shell of their former self.

This is what happened with Ezza. Unfortunately for Allahyar, unlike Ezza, Iran produces a lot of talent in position (winger, ss), so he might not end up being the regular TM star we imagined he would end up being.

"This is a totalitarian system whose presence people feel in their blood and in their flesh on a daily basis. And it’s one that does not grant freedoms of any kind, or accommodate people’s demands in any way. What is increasingly clear is that there is clear demand for change in the regime. What the people want is regime change, and no return to the past. There is a very real possibility of regime change." - Nasrin Sotoudeh
