He also had two really poorly placed passes (Slot was visibly mad after one of them). Overall though he had a decent outting. One of the better Feyenoord players.

Feyenoord fans on social media aren't too happy about him performance though

Dude had a great season and serious interest from Italy and England, chose to go to a benfica team that quite frankly is not even an upgrade to feyenoord, where he was captain and superstar. Then lose convincingly to feyenoord in preseason😂

Zidane Iqbal moved to FC Utrecht . would be nice to see him play against Ali.

          Why? What has he done?

I think overall he had a good game. Obviously he coach has confidence in him. As someone mentioned earlier, Piaxao who was excellent, also last season when ever he was subbed in, he did great, will be starter in the lest side and I'm almost sure that Alireza will be starter on the right side. Basically the starting 11 yesterday will most probably be the ordinary 11 for the season start.

And once again, I have said it before, but unlike porto, I think Feyenoord plays very entertaining football and I really enjoy watching them play. The only annoying thing about them is the huge numer of back passes to the goalkeeper from the defenders.

Too many times we see spectacular things from our players to try to break into starting elevens just to be disappointed when this doesnt come to fruition. I personally think the issue is different. What Ali-Reza need is to step by step improvements of his game.

I saw someone mentioning that Slot was obviously angry at him for missing a pass. This is probably good. It means he has a coach that his adressing his weaknesses and issues when playing. If Ali-Reza can make improvements on an incremental basis he will be just fine. It is all he needs. What he doesnt need is a mediocre english coach that is saying everything is fine and talk flowery to the media, showing a stone face in the games and then just doesnt engage in his players improvement and well being. I think this part about incremental improvements is what every iranian player needs considering how the players in Iran are brought up not even learning proper fundamentals.

Obviously there is a reason Slot is so highly regarded right now whilst that English coach is stagnating.

They just won the league partly because of ARJs contributions. When will they be happy? I usually say Iranian football fans are namak nashnas, but these Euro fans are winning the competition by miles.

Well-said. Potter never believed in ARJ. When you believe in a player, you will say things to correct their mistakes. If you don’t, you will remain stoic, and just replace that player.

It’s really all up to ARJ now. His desire & work-rate is very good, but he still needs to display more confidence in taking on players on occasion, and play more in control, fluid, and decisive.

Japan produces good to great European players like a factory. Same with South Korea.

And it was his first season in Europe. Compare to Chosseinzadeh… I hope we run into Japan or SK in Asian Cup and get destroyed. We don’t deserve anything more.

can’t stand these wanker players who go running back to their mommas after one/season in Europe ..!
Getting destroyed by SK/Japan is probably the only way they’ll fire this assclown for a coach & hire a proper foreign coach timely enough for WC ..!:/
