I guess I hold ARJ to a different standard, because he has been playing with a captain's armband in many games. He has a lot of experience. That armband has a certain weight to it. That being said, I do agree with a lot of the comments and appreciate the support against abuse for difference of opinion - I also own that the way I stated my opinion wasn't conducive to a good discussion so for that I apologize.

At times, I had issues with the way Mahdavikia played for TM (and concurrently Hamburg SV) - I'm concerned some players (like it or not) seem to play harder for their club teams than when they play for NT. For a captain, he needs to be the most focused and consistent- I think Haji Safi has been super impressive for TM and club as captain. I do think we need to revitalize our squad. We can start experimenting. Ok, no need to demand retirement from anyone but it would be nice to start seeing a younger, fresher squad with some younger players who have potential. We brought Nekounam into TM when he was only 16 (I was lucky to meet him in Pasadena when they came to play the US NT) and we all know what he did and continues to do as coach.

For the record, I am not a coach potato nor a casual fan who makes simple judgements. I'm also not a professional athlete but I've watched football and TM since 1994....

He should try to get to a good club in Turkey or Greece for the next stage of his career like Haj Safi, he is getting older and moving a to decent club that plays in European football tournaments will be better for him than getting benched at 30 years old. That is unless he can magically regain his old technique because he can barely dribble now for some reason and his passing getting worse every season

his supposed competition for spot starting the season hot off the press and cooking in every game (even their joojehz)and they keep blowin away their relatively kiri league opponents game after game, this certainly does not bode well for his playing chances anytime too soon..!? 😬
lets see if Kachal will continue to keep trust in the youth n relative inexperience for UCL matches too and keep ali nailed to bench...??
you'd think he'd have given him a few minutes of the bench by now to keep him somewhat in tune with their scheme of play..!?
im still hopeful to see ali getting some minutes from the bench come UCL games, i suppose game situation dictating..!?
their game schedule is now just beginning to get hectic with UCL midweek fixtures so i think he'll be getting some minutes sooner than later ...hopefully in UCL rather than League fixtures..!?'
btw when is the KNVB cup matches kick in ? arent they in cup or are they scheduled for 2nd half of season.?

Lucky or unlucky, whichever way you want to look at it, he is playing for a very good team that is playing in the UCL. JB certainly can still play in a mid level European team.

His minutes aren't going to come in League or UCL.

Main starters are Paixao and Ivanusec.

Their back ups are Minteh, Sauer and Lingr.

Barring two injuries, Alireza isn't even likely to get minutes in cup matches.

His are going to come off the bench in cup matches when Feyenoord are leading.

I previously thought he would get about 400 minutes this season across all competitions, but I think it's more like going to be around 250 (barring some major injuries to a couple of their other wingers)

Usually i would say if one player who should stay and fight for his spot is him but he should surely consider other options as well

if he doesnt get any minutes in UCL, (or measly minutes) he probably should start his search for next club this winter already?... or at latest next summer ..!!
he'll probably cook in a lower Eredivisie team where afforded consistent 90mins... or the tokhmy Greece is his next best option for successful on pitch spell..!!
i dont see him fairing all that well in Turkey..!!? anywhere where the physicality and intensity and speed of the game is high, he'd struggle to perform admirably in anything resembling a consistent manner..!
