also you really can't read too much into a smiling picture with his teammate ... lord knows when that pic was taken anyways..!!? and off course Porto SM would try to hardest to look for such happy pic of him to show that oh look everything is fkn honky dory..!!

Correct. Guys take it easy. Think about the bright side. He is starter in porto and also porto UCL group is not as tough as ACM. But off course he has to start scoring again and let's see what happens in winter transfer window .

It's been disappointing but not as much as some of the other sagas we've had over the last two-and-a-half decades

I was more disappointed with the early Ali Karimi saga, Mahdavikia 1998, Kavianpour sagas (eg https://www.skysports.com/football/n...agpies-meeting)

In the late 90s/early 00s every year there was more than one disappointing transfer saga. At least Mehdi still has champions league football even though he really deserves to get to the next level. Still thanks to Carlos Carvalhal and Carlos Queiroz for that phone call which rescued him from Qatar I guess
