shame Mehdi's transfer didnt materialize this summer... he really gonna have an uphill climb trying garner any serious interest from high caliber EU clubs this winter/summer, the way this season has been panning out for him and i dont particularly yet see any light at the end of tunnel on that front for him at Porto ...!

He honestly achieved more than any of us have thought but sometime people here tale it to another level when it comes to our players
We are both old timers when it come to Iranian football so i am sure you get what i mean
I mean Lukaku vs Azmoun is another one lol
As much as i like Sardar but one is/was one of the greatest strikers in world for so many years and another one is the guy which his biggest achievement was Russian top scorer and he is 28 already!
We all want our boys do well but come on ….

Many have said it before, Italian scouts don’t care about age. As long as Mehdi keeps performing like his game against Barcelona in big games, the interest will be there.

normal to see decrease in his numbers when the main creators are gone. What he did last year and the consistency was insane. But now they lost otavio - the brain/engine of the team with mehdi, did not replace him. Last year they lost Vitinha and Vieira, 2 excellent creators and didn't replace them either.

The only player they properly replaced this year was uribe, Varela is a very able player that took his spot in xi nicely. But again, not a creator, a defensive midfielder.

Look at all of their scorelines...barely winning games vs low table teams. There is something wrong there and as his performance vs barca showed it aint mehdi.

Football is a team sport, eventually taremi cannot do everything himself. Vs Barca he should have had 2 brilliant assists to pepe, the guy missed both, failed to even test the GK both times. That means taremi is playing badly?

If people think all that matters is his stat line then yeah maybe wushu or something is more suitable sport, chess I doubt you could follow if this is your opinion regarding football.

Di Maria has a much better supporting cast than Taremi.

Taremi also joined the league and instantly become one of it's very best players.... When he has a strong supporting cast.

And yes he did instantly become one of best players in Portugal… with a weaker team than any of the Porto teams. In fact he was the difference maker for that team in many games. Because he was in good form and scoring, you know, a striker’s job ideally.

As usual, Iranians blaming others for our player’s shortcomings. But I am not worried. Taremi is a real player unlike Sardar. He will have a strong season and Asian Cup.

Not having enough chances is one thing and yes they lost some key players and playmaking being poor this year! Missing opportunities has nothing to do with that!
His finishing was really poor this season!
(Not that he is pure goal scorer as even last year almost 40% of his goals came from spot)

Porto obviously lost more players this season and got even weaker.... losing the best source of service will clearly have a negative impact on goals tally. Nobody is blaming others, nor are we seeing these as "shortcomings".... These are you words only.

The whole point we're making is that he hasn't that bad of a season considering his transfer drama and losing his best sources of service..... especially considering there is still PLENTY of time left this season to actually come to a legit conclusion.

Like someone else said, context matters. Half of those goals were PENALTIES. They're not letting him take penalties anymore either so he can't stat boost.

He's gonna be 32 soon, he can't keep that up forever, especially when his team is full of people like Romario and Galeno who are absolute trash. The man can't be expected to come back and defend, make up his own chances, and then also score. He's been playing VERY well and scored some bangers in those 8 matches that have been considered offsides, and earned penalties that others take because they don't want him to take them anymore.
